Re: Pearson Out !

Believe me they weren't challenging for The Premiership nor were Chelsea - it was the huge investment that has made them competitive...
Therefore I can't understand it when people say "we are at our level" or words to that effect - we've spent millions so surely we should be better than "our level"...
I'm not arguing about Chelsea, take away their multi-billionaire and they'd slide right back to the lower regions of the second tier. Take away Man City's and they'd go back to wherever they came from which, off the top of my head, is mainly the lower regions of the top tier.

Money simply effects a temporary artificial change and, as we have seen since Mandaric came in, spunking it on a pile of bollocks & also-rans doesn't gold-plate a ticket to the top flight. If you seriously think money should buy success then I respectfully suggest you consider a rethink. It doesn't.

I say we are at "our level" by way of explaining why I am not demanding Pearson is sacked or bemoaning our apparently terrible position. I am, on the other hand, ****ing pissed off at the way money has been wasted season in, season out at the expense of cheap tickets and community. I don't demand success at any cost, I demand my club back.

Have you not been drinking/taking drugs tonight Mawsley??

Another top post there! :038:

I am into my second carafe of One Stop's finest super-strength cider and popped my pills a good half hour ago. Should kick in fully in about fifteen minutes.

Money should buy success though.

It should attract better players and staff, with better facilities. Often it does buy success, in the cases of Man City, Fulham, Wigan, etc.

I completely understand the longing, but you're never going to get your club back. If you think that football has changed too much as a result of the £billions pumped in every year to the English League alone, then surely you have to find another league/sport? It's never going back.

On one level you're absolutely correct. But football isn't the game/sport you want it to be any more. We either play the 'game' or we don't. If we don't, mid to lower table Championship football is the best we can ever hope for. Most fans wouldn't stand for that, not for long anyway. Those days under Pleat or Kelly or Holloway weren't much fun.

Often it doesn't buy success - it very rarely buys success. It leads to an ever increasing number of clubs going into receivership, the tax office being (effectively) defrauded of revenue and fans losing their clubs to no-nothing idiots on a get-rich-quick mission.

I make no odds about my current status - I don't and won't buy a season ticket at City while this nonsense continues. I have spent time watching non-league instead and now work at NTFC with visiting school kids.

Pish. It's what fans like me (and older) have watched our entire lives.

Not sure I agree when it's been spent at the level we've spent these last 2 years. £45m of losses in the last 2 published years, with probably another £20m+ to come from this season alone. I can't think of many clubs at this level who have spent that and not done more than we have.

And whilst the tax office lose out on the several teams that go under, they also do ok on the taxes on other aspects of the game (NI, etc.)

I make no odds about my current status - I don't and won't buy a season ticket at City while this nonsense continues.

I also don't buy a season ticket as they're too expensive and don't represent value for money at this level.

But when you say "while this nonsense continues", I think we'll never see the day when football returns to the same mechanism it was 20 years ago.

I believe everything exists within cycles and that duration of the periods can be influenced. I don't want football as it was 20 years ago, it was already ****ed by 1993.

I should have said ticket, not ST. I only go now when others take me which is running at once per season. I am very happy for others to extend this offer and can entertain my host with a good 90 minutes of revolutionary-based hilarious chat.

Ditto.

Except I can't offer the latter.

I think that story has been written by someone taking a look at the forums, there are no quotes to back it up a silly season story?

It's obviously an entirely made-up article, purely to fill space

If I had 100 million quid invested or whatever the number is I would be watching the result tomorrow very carefully. If we don't get a win will the owners continue to take chances with NP in a critical year with the financial fair play kicking in next season. I think most people believe we have the players to get us up but will NP's tactical deficiency prevent this. I sincerely hope we win and win well tomorrow but the unthinkable possibility of another loss may cause a panic and an attempt to put someone in place who can get us through the rest of the season and up through the playoffs. also the owners have been very quiet recently - is this just a coincidence.
