Speculation Pearson's Replacement

Recruitment isn't happening, no signings since Pearson's departure. pre season is just that a training exercise. However without a Manager nobody knows what he (or she) wants from the players. This is a professional football club playing in the hardest league in the world against some of the best players in the world. This is not a kick about down Aylestone Playing Fields, they need a top flight manager fast, if they are going to survive.

If nothing else Bob Bradley might net us a bit more of a following in the USA. He's done okay, but I think we could attract better than him.

How do you know this?

We haven't recruited anyone since he left so not sure how that works.

We've made bids though which suggests that all doesn't stop without a manager. You do know that we have a pretty comprehensive recruitment set up at the club and they're all still there?

The Mercury are saying that it "could" be the reason why he hasn't re-signed. Of course it could also not be and they are totally ignoring the fact that he didn't re-sign in the 3/4 weeks post-season when Pearson was in charge.

Made bids and signed nobody, says it all. Which players of a half decent standard are going to come before knowing who the manager is.

Anyone who thinks this is acceptable preparation for a tough Premier League campaign is kidding themselves.

We never heard anything from Pearson after any of the 3 signings this summer or 4 if you include Jeff.

What makes you think he had any invlovement in signing any of those??

You'd think a man of Cambiasso's experience would know that the club is about more than one man. The manager is an important figure no doubt but surely it wasn't *just* Pearson keeping him at the club? He took his time before signing in the first place, maybe he's just a man that likes to think things through.

If, as we assume, the decision to sack Pearson was a moral one, then I think we can expect that at some point they will realise that their morals are incompatible with professional football in this day and age.

Indeed this may be having an impact on our recruitment. If the owners are telling candidates that they want someone to prevent such instances, I imagine they are learning that no manager is willing to take on that responsibility.

I'm pretty certain every club in the Premier League would also have sacked those particular players, regardless of where the incident took place.

We were doubly unfortunate in that firstly, one player was the son of the manager and secondly, we had an obstinate manager who refused to apologise for either his players' or his son's sickening behaviour.

You hear Managers say the need a good pre season to set their mark, create the culture, instill their ideas and way of working.

They certainly blame it as issue when they don't get that pre season.

We are already behind our rivals in terms of preparation.

We have entirely lost that amazing momentum - but then again that was lost anyway the minute they sacked Pearson

Except that he sacked himself.

Off the top of my head: Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Keiron Dyer, Frank Lampard have all been involved with sex tapes, brothel visits or racist abuse, and I'm sure they're more. None were sacked.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other player in the EPL to be sacked for doing what Pearson Jr & Co did.

I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle. It was more the racism thing that caused the sacking. For a club to constantly push the 'let's kick racism out of football' propaganda and then not act when some of it's own players have been taped racially abusing people would have been hypocritical at best. Really the club had little alternative.

EDIT - plus IMO, they deserved it. I don't remember the Frank Lampard and co. incidents well but two wrongs don't make a right. i.e. just because they did it and got away with it doesn't mean everybody should.

Perhaps. That's why I carefully wrote 'those particular players'.
