I doubt it very much.

I reckon they will drop 4 points.
I can't see what grounds you can possibly have for this. Statistical? They're averaging more than 2 points a game lately. Psychological? I have seen no indications whatsoever that they are bottling it. Football-wise? They're the best team in the league at the moment.

Look at each game individually. Spurs will, and should, be big favourites in every single one of them. They are different class to all of them.

Since we played them, Spurs have dropped 7 points from 13 games. To think that they will drop 4 from their last 4 is just based on wishful thinking and not on facts IMO.

I'm totally convinced we'll have to do this on our own.

Football doesn't follow logic necessarily. Chelsea have enough quality and will to beat Spurs and I think they will. If for whatever reason they aren't good enough to beat Spurs then they won't beat us.

Newcastle away could be a really nervy affair with 40 000+ Geordies screaming their team on to survival.

Is that better?

Just a thought and an interesting comparison - though possibly not relevant this season ---

When we won the championship, this is the difference in situations (at 34 points). More wins, more losses.
Roughly the same number conceded - more scored.

I know it doesn't impact this season but I thought it was a good comparison.

I think we'll have to mostly do it ourselves - however, I do think Spurs will drop at least 2 points. Baseless, but a feeling.

Also if Spurs can lost to West Ham on the road, they're perfectly capable of slipping up somewhere like Southampton or Chelsea.

Cesc Fabregas definitely does not want Spurs to win the league. We'd be underestimating them if we think they are likely to slip up in any of these games though. While these teams are certainly capable of beating Spurs, so should Man U and Stoke have been but they were both blown away. We must assume Spurs are likely to win all their remaining games and therefore need to win three of our last four as things stand.

OK on facts then they drop 0.5 points per games, so will likely drop 2 points - draws against Chelsea and Newcastle, if Newcastle are fighting for survival. Maximum 78, so 2 wins should see us through.

If we can do that against Swansea and Manure there will be no pressure for the Everton and Chelsea games where we might expect to get between 2 and 6 points.

I think we will have 80+ points at the end.

:044: People are truly expecting Newcastle to show the quality and bottle to hold Spurs

They are a truly gutless bunch of ****wits who will get a right good hammering.

Why didn't we hammer them at home then?

I'll tell you why, it's the X factor. The X factor that doesn't necessarily derive from logic, form, quality of player or league position.

The very same X factor that sees our beloved LCFC top of the league with 4 games to play, that very same X factor that sees a minnow from the lower reaches of the championship beat the likes of Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and co in the FA Cup in their own back yard.

The X factor that has kept us all supporting City for decades in spite of little more reward than the occasional pat on the back or a trip to Wembley to win a third rate competition.

The X factor is why we are football fans, we live for the day where things don't go to form or plan because this is when the X factor appears.

Long live the X factor.

If they draw 2 won't they drop 4 points or has the FA changed the rules to ensure Spurs win the league?

Tonight's game against Man City might give us a better idea of whether they are up for a fight or not.

Why are some so confident that Spurs will maintain their form and win them all yet we'll slip away from ours and not win them all?

Baffling isn't it? We have a team with two more wins, one fewer defeat and 5 more points, yet Spurs are invincible and more likely to win their remaining 4 games than we are.

As I mentioned in another thread, our form over the last 10 is equal and better over the last 6.

Form?

They've looked a much better team than us recently.

We haven't been playing particularly well for a while, the run of 1-0 wins covered up some poor performances, and we were fortunate to be playing against some awful teams that couldn't take advantage.

Did you watch Spurs last night?

Have we played without Vardy this season?

I'm not saying it means anything but the way Spurs are performing and crucially getting results, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest they could win the remaining games they have.

How we will perform without Vardy is an unknown, so again not unreasonable for people to have reservations about this, not that I have really seen anyone saying we are going to **** it up.

Didn't we play without Vardy earlier in the season when he had his op?

In the words of the great Nigel Pearson, anyone still certain "Spurs won't win all their games" is an ostrich and is burying themselves in the sand. There's a very, very good chance they will. Chelsea is the only challenge they have left and they should still be clear favourites for that one right now. They'll wipe the floor with Southampton, West Brom and Newcastle the way they are playing.

Not saying that doesn't mean we can't still do it, but there's a very good chance we'll need 8 points from these fixtures and that is far from an easy task, especially without our talisman who dictates our style of play. Spurs are very much in this and it will be very close between the two of us.

We can't afford not to go all out for those 8 points in the final games. Goal difference could be killer for us. Really hope it doesn't come down to that.
Didn't we play without Vardy earlier in the season when he had his op?

No.

Spurs are beating teams 3-0 pretty much every week these days and look good value for it too, whereas we are unknown quantity without Vardy and so much of our style of play is built round him and he's the talisman of our side.

I wouldn't bricking it if we still had all our key players ready, but missing Vardy for a couple of games - especially ManUtd away who are a possession based side and we'll be losing our main counter-attacking outlet - is quite a daunting prospect. Not saying we won't get through it, but I'm certainly fearful of how we'll get on without him.

All true, I'm with those who believe Spurs will win their last 4. Despite what Claudio says, the pressure has got to us and it's shown in the last 4 or 5 games. There was an air of desperation in our play on Sunday. These players know they'll never have a better chance for a league winners medal and wouldn't be human if they weren't affected by that.

It's far harder to hold the lead than play catch-up. There is no pressure on Spurs. They're not favourites for the league and were that to change, it could be too late to have an effect.

One hope is that if (God forbid) this goes down to the last day, THEN they'll feel the pressure and if Newcastle still need something to stay up, who knows?
