If I heard right in the post-match interview Sven mentioned that some players want away in January?

Waghorn probably but who else? Howard? Bruno still?

Re: Preston North End (A)

Wrong. A point is a bad result in a game that we have dominated and were cruising towards a vistory. If we can't shut out the team that's bottom of the league for that last few minutes then it is a poor result in the circumstances.

We didn't cruise that game at any point. The two teams were tied for more than two thirds of the game. We had chances and so did they.

Sometimes you have 75% possession and ten times as many shots and lose games. Sometimes you pinch wins when you've been outplayed. Shit happens in football.

We played well today and could easily have won it. But we got a draw. Away from home in this league any time you avoid defeat is good. We've won our last two and it's vital we try to put an unbeaten run together. I thought we'd lose today because of the circumstances with them wound up with a new boss and in real danger of getting cut adrift at the bottom. They are a much better team than their results and league position.

So I'm happy with a point. Yak scores and we didn't lose. Good afternoon.

Sorry Sven, old bean, but that just isn't good enough

Preston are utter shite, and pissing away two points like a bunch of screaming nancies isn't what is needed right now

V. Poor

Agreed, absolutely not good enough, two valuable points pissed away..

Re: Preston North End (A)

..... the 2 dropped points from the team at the very bottom of the division..:icon_roll

It makes feck all difference in this league whether you're playing the team top or bottom - anyone can win or lose to anyone.

I reckon most teams in this league going to Preston today would have lost. We didn't and nearly won. That's not worth slitting your wrists over.

Re: Preston North End (A)

Typical City. Same old story, go one up away from home, put everyone behind the ball and concede an equaliser.

Grrrrrrrrrrr! So angry! Always the hope and then the disappointment.

Make your minds up!

Drummindefender says we conceded by pushing too many men up & Hazzman says we conceded because we sat back & defended too deep:bang:

Gutted - had Yakubu to score first and 2-1 city
Nearly shat myself when King went through in injury time.

I don't think anyone is slitting their wrists but given the games in hand and the superior goal difference the play-off chasing pack has that was two points lost.

Unfortunately the result will always outweigh the positives..

This is exactly my point.

Because we started this season so absymally, perspective is totally out of the window. It's not Sven's fault that we were where Preston are when he took over, adrift and stinking out the league. Our form since Sousa was sacked (far too late) is up there with anyone else in the league. And that includes a point away at Preston.

We shouldn't confuse a team's form with what happened in today's game! Two totally separate things. You can't say - oh, there's no problem with the result because over the last 3/4 games we've done okay. If the thread were about the past 3/4 games then you'd be right to be happy, but it's not, and on today's showing we won't go up.

The form is good, but today's performance is exactly what we don't need. They were two points pissed away, no doubt about it. And it also served as a warning that Bamba's performance last week was very much a one-off. Much more of that and he'll make himself a liability before long.

Bamba is an accident waiting to happen.

Even last week something gave me that impression, as good as he may have been. We need another centre half, a keeper, a winger (maybe 2) and a left back, possibly even a better holding midfielder to go up. Seems a season off to me still, though that's no criticism of Sven.

Agreed Brown Nose. Disappointing not to get all three points today but hardly a disaster. Maybe the players had Tuesday on their mind?

Wonderfully contradictory post. Whether or not we get in to the play-offs will depend on our form over 46 games (or 37 in our case!) not on 1 result. You seem to be confusing performance and result. Was it a poor performance today or just a poor result?

Re: Preston North End (A)

FFS people, that is 7 points out of 9 this month. Preston were well up for it with a new boss and desperate for points.

We outplayed them and almost won. A point is not a bad result in the circumstances.

Nothing wrong with that performance and nothing wrong with that point.

We're going to end this season very close to the play offs. Given the first 9 games of this season, that is pretty amazing.

Absolutely spot on..pick up the odd point away from home, picks up as many wins as possible at the walkers and we will be not far off.

BN absolutely on the money here.

just back from the game,we were cruising and never should have thrown that away I didnt see Humes goal as people were standing so assuming it wasnt Bambas fault he was immense today good in the air, quick good on the ball a steal at £250k Yak looked class, Dyer looked sharp, id give motm to Wellens, always available always prompting, imo taking Dyer/Yak off and adopting a more defensive attitude cost us PNE were up for it but a definate 2pts dropped

So who is right about Bamba?

I will wait to hear from somebody who actually went to the match, rather than a RL listener.
