Re: Preston North End (A)

Absolutely spot on..pick up the odd point away from home, picks up as many wins as possible at the walkers and we will be not far off.

BN absolutely on the money here.

But this is a Promotion pushing side is it not..?

We can't afford to drop 2 points to bottom of the league, away or home :icon_sad: however Preston fought well for their draw today

Re: Preston North End (A)

I went. We didn't finish them off when we had the chance. For a huge spell of the second half we dominated but they always looked like a chance might come along and thats exactly what happened.

not to mention hitting the bar twice and scuppering two 1 on 1's

Win your home games, draw away, 2 points a game...playoff form.

It's an oversimplification of course, but as long as we continue our current form we've got a chance.

I understand that we should be winning at Preston and the nature of the draw is frustrating, but all in all I'm happy with our form so far this year.

And I suppose I should add I've not seen us play so I'm basic our "form" on recent results. I wouldn't pretend to know anything about the nature of the game, just the result and what it means big picture.

I've been back an hour and I'm still struggling to understand how we let it slip away once the lead was taken. The Yak showed quality in his goal- shaped for the right side, paused, then rolled it in at the keeper's near post. For the next 15 minutes I felt we were comfortable on the ball and moved it well. However there didn't seem to be anyone willing to pull the trigger. There was a tendency to look for another pass rather than pepper the goal.
We were beginning to defend deeper and our dominance dwindled and their opportunities increased. Then came the equaliser. I felt King was MIA until his miss..:icon_sad:

Thought we played excellent until after we scored, hit the post 2-3 times, and Kingeh should've scored that late one-on-one. Yakubu didn't seem willing to chase down defenders but looked good attacking, Bamba was quality MOM for me, Wealeh was solid, all players looked good for us. Just unlucky to concede late on

Thank you......:038::038::038::038:

Sven: "It feels like two points dropped"

Homer: "It is two points dropped, you complete twat"

'nuff said..........

Okay, if you went to the game - which I didn't - and say Bamba was excellent and not at all to blame then I bow down to you. I've not seen the goal yet either, so I really can't say. Can only comment on what other people have said today. From what I've seen I can imagine, as someone else put it, that he's an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully that's entirely wrong.

I don't think, however, that it's contradictory to say that our recent form is good, but today's performance is exactly the sort of thing which will rob us of a play-off finish. Just trying to point out that you can't look at one game and dismiss us having thrown away 2 points on the grounds that it doesn't matter because we've played well recently. I agree that nothing is judged on just one game; but then again, isn't that why we're so far off the play-offs as it stands?

I will wait to hear from somebody who actually went to the match, rather than a RL listener.

We had chances to put the game out of reach by halftime and didn't take them.

Serves us right, but PNE obviously had a rollicking at halftime cos they came out and didn't give our lot any time on the ball for 10/15mins, but then we began to take charge again, and I tohught when Yak scored we'd get another, but instead they sat back and invited Preston to attack(and this was before any subs were made)

IMO Dyer was playing for his place today, cos I think if Vassell had been fit he would've been the one to make way for Yak to play.
Didn't do himself any favours with a miss even I could've scored from.

Saying that Gallagher hit the bar twice, Naughton could've easily made it 2-0 near the end and King.....well I think he would've been better to hit that first time instead of faffing about with it...

I'm not gutted, I'm annoyed. But it's ok, cos we didn't lose..........

Does anyone know if Vassell is fit for tuesday?
If not were gonna struggle there with goal-shy strikers Howard and Waggy
Shame we cant play the yak.

F**king gutted we bossed the game but despite numerous chances we couldn't find that killer second goal that would have made the game safe, however we were a class above PNE, dominant and confident performance that lacked the ruthless instinct in front of goal.

Weale 7 -decent shot stopper but still scares the shit out of me when dealing with crosses but proved himself more than adequate as a starting keeper at this level.

Naughton 7 - Always supporting the attack, however is sometimes exposed when defending

Hobbs 6 - Looks more solid alongside Bamba but looks limited this is his level at best

Bamba 8 - What a bargain, was calm and assured, excellent reader of the game

Berner 6 - Looks fitter than at the start of the season looked solid

Abe 7 - Good performance links well with Wellens, for someone without a physical presence he breaks play down so well

Wellens 9 - Head and shoulders above the rest today, magnifient performance. Class above everybody today, ran the game

King 5 - Apart from the one on one in injury time, largely anonymous. Very good goalscorer but Andy if you really want to be a great that watch Wellens who showed how you boss a game

Gallagher 6 - Drifted in and out but always looks capable of producing something to turn a game, unlucky to hit woodwork twice.

Yakabu 7 - Short of match fitness but oozes class, will rip this division apart once he gets some games under his belt

Dyer 5 - All pace and no end product, missed a sitter and contributed little else, if we really are to progress then we need to have someone up top with far more quality.

We shouldn't confuse a team's form with what happened in today's game! Two totally separate things. You can't say - oh, there's no problem with the result because over the last 3/4 games we've done okay. If the thread were about the past 3/4 games then you'd be right to be happy, but it's not, and on today's showing we won't go up.

The form is good, but today's performance is exactly what we don't need. They were two points pissed away, no doubt about it. And it also served as a warning that Bamba's performance last week was very much a one-off. Much more of that and he'll make himself a liability before long.

Did you go? Bamba played well.we where really good, just unlucky with hitting the wood work and some average finishing from king, dyer and the yak.stopped us from winning.

Spot on in my book

It is good to hear from someone who was at the game and says so. It is important to know whether posters watched a game live, saw it on TV when applicable or are guessing from Radio Leicester.

I was not there so I will leave it to others to judge how well individuals played. In the matter of points I favour those who see it as a bad result.

Sadly we will not get into the playoffs by producing the type of form that would normally get a team into the playoffs, Thanks to Sousa and his bad start we need the kind of run that would normally get automatic promotion.

It is easy for a team playing well to get out of the relegation zone. When you win the teams around you are likely to draw or lose. To climb from 13th into the top 6 is extremely difficult. Even if one of the top six such as Watford starts the slip it is likely that at least one team above us e.g Millwall or Forest or Reading will go on a good run.

Ironically winning the playoffs may be less of an achievement than getting into the top six since once there all four teams start on an even footing.

You'd have to be incredibly clever to have any kind of clue of what's going on with the commentary from Stringer.
