Brendan Rodgers can ****ing jog on. My dog could pull off a Scots Prem title win with Celtic. Sean Dyche? Is he going to leave a club where he is building his own thing and looks to have earned a place in Europe next year? Not likely until at least after next season now. Wenger? No doubt will end up at a bigger club. We'll wind up playing take your pick from the managerial roundabout suspects or will have to take a chance on a young up and coming manager from a lower division. Maybe we'd have a chance at Wagner or Silva but both have struggled at the bottom of the league and I don't really rate either of them.

If we get rid of Puel, we'd best hope we can persuade Benitez to leave Newcastle because that's the only one we might have a chance at that would be an improvement.
Because we could never look outside the UK for a manager.
Surely the appointments of Ranieri and Puel show that the owners clearly have a more open-mind and knowledge of managerial candidates than most of our blinkered fans and the British media do.
You not being able to think of a better alternative and us not being able to get one are two very different things.
And the idea that nobody would want to come to us is farcical for the reasons that have already been said.

A new multimillion pound training ground on the horizon. Talk of stadium expansion. Some very good players. Bags of money to spend.

They'd be queuing up.
Exactly.

In this era, managers benefit from the chaos. If they're successful then they're lauded as a great manager and paid handsomely for it. If they fail, they get a nice payout and usually walk into the next job.

Newcastle is a prime example of an awful owner and a club in chaos with no/limited transfer fees available, and they still attracted a manager of Benitez's calibre.

We can pay more than most, and offer all of the above as well. We're a very attractive proposition.

I like Brown Nose's suggestion of Unai Emery. I think he'd appeal to our owners, the style of play that our fans appreciate, and has a good big club mentality. He'd be a good draw for other players.

If someone gave me the option to swap Puel for Emery right now, there's no question in my mind.

Emery would certainly be a big step up. It's hard to imagine it's realistic, but if Real Sociadad are a possibility, then surely we would be.

I do think we would have to give him a large transfer kitty and allow time for a transition again though.

Feriol, "allow time" .

Is your tongue in your cheek?
Our lynch mob will have him swinging by the rafters if we aren't top 6 after his 1st training session!!!

Puel has had six full months in charge, incorporating one full transfer window, which is a perfectly reasonable amount of time to be able to make a judgement of his capabilities

Yeah but we're judging him on things that have already happened. It's the things that haven't happened and may never happen that we should be judging him on.

Maybe, but we have only given him five milliseconds to show what he can do, and the only realistic alternative is Alan Pardew, Paul Ince or H from Steps

At least we know that the scouting side of things would be sorted out, courtesy of Mrs Ince :023:

Dusty Bin has ruled himself out?

You mean like how awful we will be next season and our nailed on relegation that we keep getting told will happen if we keep Puel?

Look, I'm not set on Puel and haven't been from the start, I wouldn't feel upset if he left or stayed at this juncture but let's not pretend that those who want him gone know any more about the future than those who don't. The Martin O'Neil years should have taught us that. Most of us have 2 balls, neither of which is crystal.

I've never said we're nailed on for relegation or any of that bollocks. My opinion is that it's totally shit to watch now and I've not seen anything to suggest he wants to change that.

You haven't. Others have.

Have they? All I've read is we'll not be shit next year with absolutely no basis to it. If we play well in 1 of the games we've got left I may start to understand what they're seeing.

Are you crazy ?
Or blind ?

This thread is littered with multiple posts on the hour, every hour, predicting relegation, rack and ruin if Puel stays in charge
