I wish Martin well but something changed in him around that Villa time, maybe it's just as simple as his time having passed

John Robertson wasn't his assistant at Sunderland. That's part of why they failed imo.

Martin and John were a team and worked very well together.

I don't think it's coincidence that as soon John left and didn't work with Martin things changed.

Two very different temperaments by all accounts,
Yin and Yang, and I think it's with John by his side that Martin can be so successful.

David Wagner has left Huddersfield by mutual consent apparently .

They've done well recently but could he do a good job here?

Interesting theory someone just brought up to me

Puel isn't at risk for the same reason that we can't sign anyone.. he was told that Vichai's money is still tied up in his name because of the amount and businesses involved, it isn't straight forward to sort

Maybe this is the real reason for the loan that was taken out

We will never know. He says he has had enough of the rigours of being a premier league manager .

A lot of truth in that. The money tap has been turned off for the foreseeable future.

Financial fair play suggests it shouldn't be the owners money we are spending?

owners are allowed to invest a certain amount of money without breaching FFP, more to the point they can do it and then take the money back once other funds are freed up through either sponsorship payment coming in or whatever else, the club has money of its own but it may not have enough surplus there to spend big on transfers etc.

...for now.

I don't know where, but I expect him to resurface at a much bigger club than Huddersfield when he's good and ready and do a very good job. I certainly wouldn't complain if it was ours.

What has he done to warrant it?

or they are getting rid in the summer?they don't want to buy players now with a new manager lined up?

they played some decent stuff when they were promoted, Huddersfield have just struggled spend the money required, the difference between the Championship and the Prem is strikers. That is Huddersfield down fall and Wagner knows it!

Good point, aside from getting them promoted with one of the lowest playing budgets in the Championship (the same as Rotherham, who went down), keeping them up for a second season with a game to spare, making the club millions that haven't been reinvested in either the playing staff or club facilities, I'm not sure what he's done at all.

Yeah, but we won the league without spending much, so obviously that’s the yardstick we’re measuring all managers by now. How many premier leagues on a limited budget has Wagner won?
