We just don't create enough at home.

7 goals in our last 8 home games is tragic. Especially when we've only kept 2 clean sheets in our last 10 at home too.

From our last 18 home games, we've picked up 21 points, scoring 20 goals.

In the last year, we've only scored more than 2 goals in a game twice - against Huddersfield and in that weird match against Arsenal.

Playing safe, boring, football away from home is sometimes an okay tactic I suppose. But you just cannot do it at home.

His record at Southampton was exactly the same as his last 19 home games with us - 6 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats. Southampton were also better away from home that season which is why they ended up 8th and not in a relegation battle. However, it's worth pointing out that they ended the season only 6 points better off than the team in 17th. Their home record that season was the 17th best overall.

He's had 45 home games in the Premier League now and shown absolutely no inclination for anything other than, slow, defensive, negative, football.

He is convinced that his approach is correct. But I don't have to watch this shite any more. I'm not going to a home game again until he's gone. It's just not a worthwhile experience.

When you look at the stats for possession, shots etc it looks like we dominate games and have been unlucky, and probably looks good for Puel as he defends his position.

However it doesn't tell the story of a lack of quality chances. There is a big difference between a shot and a goal scoring opportunity. I do think it points to a team that tries to attack more than perhaps Puel gets credit for, but the slow pace of our attacks makes it easy for defenses to deny us getting anywhere dangerous. We have players capable of attacking at pace, Puel needs to allow them to.

Good post highlighting why Soton fans and Lcfc fans want him gone.

You cannot be that gutless at home and expect the majority of paying punters to stay with you.

If the owners are happy for him to take the shit whilst they lower spending then they are playing a dangerous game that will end in tears.

Bin him tomorrow?
seriously? are you really expecting them to sack a manager in season who has us 8th in the league? They may well choose to replace him but unless we suddenly nose dive to relegation it's not happening in season, the sooner some of the people around me in the ground that scream Puel out because kasper Schmeichel cannot kick a ball to a team mate effectively or because Marc Albrighton suddenly thinks he's Leo Messi instead of passing to a well placed Vardy or Maddison etc. realise that and get back to supporting the team at least whilst they are playing the better it will be for everyone.

Given the Puel outers seem to think most fans agree it was a funny to see them trying to get a we want puel out chant going and no one join in, even funnier that when asked what exactly it is they want they couldn't answer

The top 6 must be loving life in this new era Premier League, where simply staying in the league to collect the dollar is the only aim of 14 clubs

Maybe it was once a top four - but otherwise that is always what the Premier League is. That's why our win was so utterly shocking.

We can't pay that. That is maybe the issue.
Nuno Espirto Santo and all of their big stars are there because Wolves, though owned by a Chinese group with more wealth than our owners, transfer policy is effectively being run by Jorge Mendes, there is not one of their players or manager (that he is the agent of) that would leave them for us, they are there as a shop window for Europe's big boys or to get Wolves into European competition

We should get rid now and pay Nuno whatshisface at Wolves whatever he wants and get him in.
Don’t be silly, we can’t compete with Wolves.

It’s screamingly obvious what people want instead of Puel. How could you possibly not make the leap from people thinking the football is crap and we’re no fun at home to possibly not playing tepid, slow football and attacking the opposition at the KP? You’ll respond with something about recruitment, being in the top half, young players, unrealistic expectations yada yada but don’t pretend you don’t know what people want as an alternative to Puel.

And no nobody can produce the name of a manager who can make it better, it’s not the job of the fans. They know a turkey when they see one though. Who would have pulled Claude Puel’s name out of their arse as an answer to ‘evolving our style’? No one would have.

no they actually haven't got a clue, you might know what you want and fair play if you do but they don't.

Some complain about negative defensive football then want Rafa Benitez appointed, a manager that is of the same tactical school as Jose Mourinho and is constantly moaning in the press about something.

Some have moaned about trying to be a possession side and want to go back to what we used to do, which was working so well Craig Shakespeare had us in the bottom 3 remember and then said bring Brendan Rodgers in.

Some of them seem to think counter attacking is a fix all completely forgetting the teams we struggle against, especially at home are the ones that come and park the bus, how exactly do you counter attack a team that isn't trying to attack themselves?

This team and squad is far from good enough, it has several players missing from it being able to break those sides down regardless of how we try to play them, most notably we need a proper number 8 a deeper lying playmaker that will get the ball to our attacking players quickly we have a bunch of 6s, ball winners, but no one to do the other job.

Also we need better wingers, on both sides, hopefully Barnes will prove to be what we need on the left but on the right we have Gray who despite his talent is highly inconsistent, Albrighton that just floats the ball in to the middle like its a defensive drill for the other sides CBs and Ghezzal who, well who the **** knows what his strengths are.

Sack Puel or don't it doesn't matter the owners want a possession based style so those faults will need fixing either way, if a new face makes it better for fan fine I really don't care anymore but it will not happen during the season.

At one point yesterday Maguire played a simple pass to Ricardo who reacted slowly and couldn't keep the ball in and some ****tard screamed Puel out, which helps no one and surely no one is stupid enough to think that was something Puel wanted to see?

Slate Puel online or in the pub all you like but once the whistle goes support the ****ing team, that's what a fan does.

also if the Puel outers feel that strongly about it then organise a protest boycott, if the ground is half empty then they will be far more likely to act

It's all a bit Brexity though 'Puel out' is akin to 'out means out'.

No coherrant plan for it and no guarantee it will actually be any better and quite likely worse.

The people that are shouting the loudest for it admit they have no plan but just want out!

The logical people realise it isn't perfect, but is the best option at the moment and things really aren't as bad as the shouty people are making out.

If only we could find a manager that made us play like Barcelona without their resources - I'd like to have my cake and eat it too!

That’s a good post, thanks for your reply.

What I find worrying about persevering with Puel is that everything I’ve seen and read about him, including his time in France is that he is a very, very stubborn man. What isn’t working now isn’t going to work any better with more cheap, young players.... if the speculation about us reigning in our spending is to be believed. Just take Spurs and Pochettino (yes, they’re on a different level to us) they are so flexible and pragmatic, they can press, play with wing backs, strangle opposition, switch between a back three and a back four.... because their manager is smart and he reads situations well. All I se from Puel is the Sam basic plan for 70 minutes followed by a chaotic scramble to find a late goal.

I doubt it.

Puel was probably appointed as a low-cost option - that he would develop academy talent rather than buy expensive stars.

And there's little chance that will change until the actual ownership is sorted out. I suspect that might take some time. And not be sorted out in a way that means new investment.

I stopped reading at Brexit, don’t be such a tit.

the best solution for us right now would be to drop Maddison into the midfield 3 of a 433 with Wilf there to use his athleticism to get around the pitch and Hamza to screen, I'm glad Papy has resurrected his career but he wouldn't be in my team right now, Barnes left wing and personally I'd stick Gray on the right and tell them both to be as direct as possible, get in the box and shoot, unless Vardy suddenly grows to 6'3" crossing is pointless

an organised protest with respectful and rational spokesmen would go a long way with these owners
