I think we can understand what Southampton fans were going through. On the face of it. 8th in the table isn't bad going at all and everybody outside of the top 6 is struggling for any sort of consistency this year. But the football is atrocious. Even when we win most of the time I'm left scratching my head as to how we managed it because we were not great. Everton being a great case in point and even at Chelsea we were very lucky to take 3 points despite having played ok. Even a lot of the pundits are picking up on it these days..

We are often very self destructive, stifling our own attacks, sloppy and amateurish on more than just the odd occasion. Notoriously slow starters. Who can we get in that would be better?

2016 “keep dreaming. Why wake up”

2019 “If people believe we have to be sixth, that it should be our place, it is not the truth. It’s not possible.”

There are games when I've come away thinking how did we lose/draw that, but hey, that's football.

Couldn’t agree more. Every game we play is somehow very tight and there doesn’t seem to be any reflection of how we’ve played in the result.

When I watch us, I don’t understand how we ever win, but somehow we do.

Baffling.

I honestly can’t think of one this season.

So you’re happy watching boring dull defeatist football. Constant passing across and back. No creativity. Little or no goal threat. One of the premier leagues best strikers more or less redundant. A keeper who can’t get the ball to a blue shirt. Slow build up to allow the opposition to get 11 men behind the ball and stifle any attack.

No. You’re right. Nothing wrong at all.

But nothing is drastically wrong at the moment. If it were, we would be in a relegation battle instead of sitting comfortably in the top half.

I didn't say there is nothing wrong at all, just nothing drastically wrong, which there isn't.

Context helps a little bit though.

2016 - sitting top of the league with a nice lead and only one real possible challenger.

2019 - already best of the rest in 7th but the top 6 as good as they have ever been and no realistic chance of being able to catch any of them.

A little pedantic, I know, but we’re 8th.

Beating Cardiff, Burnley, Soton, etc etc at home would have been a great start.

The position in the table can change quickly.

If any of those below us grow some bollocks and actually try to win rather than being ****ing petrified of losing they'd catch us very quickly.

Either way, the league is full of negative, scared, small minded teams that really do skew the reality of our position.

The top 6 must be loving life in this new era Premier League, where simply staying in the league to collect the dollar is the only aim of 14 clubs

But the quote was said when we were 7th.

Or did Claudio tell us to keep dreaming when we actually were in the shit the following season languishing near the bottom?

Sorry I didn’t realise it was in relation to that. I’m away so am only just catching up.

Looking back it’s amazing he survived the palace game.
Which one? The first, second or third time that he was tactically outclassed by the bloke who lost to Iceland?

I really admire M177TT C's defence of Puel and the stance the club is taking, and until yesterday I was largely in that camp. Not after that shower of shit yesterday, and on its own I could live with it, but its just the latest in a long run of showers of shit.
We should get rid now and pay Nuno whatshisface at Wolves whatever he wants and get him in.

Did we lose/draw to Wolves? I thought we won that one.
Think they were responding to the earlier point of wondering how we’ve beaten some of the teams we have under Fraud.
