On the internet people pretend to be other people all the time and being a Footy star has more pullability.
Having said that in a Sheffield club at the end of last year some guy pretended to be Matty Fryatt when trying to chat my daughter up. Took him by surprise though when she said "oh ain't there a song about you- my brother sings it all the time"
He later fessed up by text that in fact he was an Aston Villa Youth/Reserve player!!!

I agree that charges should be brought against him, but I'm concerned that the group trying to do it is heavily atheist. He should be charged for the child offences alone, and not have the issue of religion raised IMO.
