The Simpsons strikes again:

Nothing surprises me anymore. Years ago, when discussing the plethora of big budget film releases based on recycling old tv shows, I said " you watch, it'll be Scooby ****ing Doo the movie next " Everyone laughed. As they were supposed to. It was literally the most ludicrous thing I could think of.

Of course as we all know, they made it a couple of years later. & then a sequel.

The 21st century has **** all to offer on most levels.

Watched the Road House
2024 version recently.
Patrick will be turning in his grave, ( Sam Elliott wouldn’t be too chuffed either!)

Tbh I've always been a bit baffled how such a relentlessly average film managed to achieve the more or less legendary status it's enjoyed for all these years. I've always thought of it as a bank holiday 10:30 BBC1 sort of thing.

Still, the same applies to Dirty Dancing & that has the same resonance for women of a certain age as Roadhouse does for men of the same era. I guess Swayze (or his agent) had a good eye for the zeitgeist.

So far this week we've had circumcision & now castration. I shudder to think where all this is going to end up when it's close season & there's no football to talk about
(sweating intrensifies)
Just concentrate on the cricket.
Just concentrate on the cricket.
Just. Concentrate. On. The. Cricket.

I saw a few tweets about this and assumed it was bollocks but it seems not.

I cast my vote for Leics & Rutland PCC today. The Tory incumbent who stood again today (polling says he’s losing his position, fingers crossed) Rupert Matthews writes books about aliens and ghosts and is a ‘Professor’ at The Metaphysical University where he teaches a course on cryptozoology.

We've had the mayoral election up her and the crime commissioner. I knew ages ago about where my X was being put for the mayor thing due to there being multiple ****s to avoid. Rocked up and was given 2 slips of card.....forgot about the crime bit. Probs voted for someone who will commission loads of crime, knowing my luck.

Unfortunately you're given such information as "address in Northumberland". I'd like more specific info. Prudhoe is full of weed farms which I'm not too fussed about but the drug choices in Blyth are a bit more Scottish.
