I would like to see Gallagher played up front, first half he was very good IMo.

yea why not, dyer on left, drop fryatt, howard n gallager could work very well.

He's had his two best games tonight and against Palace so I've got no idea why he should be dropped.

Because Morrison was the best player on the pitch vs Derby. Agree Neilson has looked a lot better in the past 2 games, I still think Morrison is better though.

Thought Brown had dropped yet another clanger in the first half, luckily they didn't capitalise.

Think Oakley was poor yet again, would much rather see Oakley dropped than King tbh.

Neilson clearly got of on the wrong foot but deserves a chance to make that spot his IMO.

As for King and Oakley, very frustrating to watch as the look so good when games open out. Thank **** Richie is there to take care of them when things get a bit ropey.

I can live with Nielsen staying in the team, but McGivern and King can go for me, Weve been playing with 9 men for too long.

I'm not fussed about McGivern, Bruno will be back soon. King is soooo frustrating though, there's a good, consistent player in there somewhere I swear. Not sure what Nige needs to do to get the best from him though .

Back four were all pants IMO. How many times did they allow a Reading player to turn on the edge of the box. McGivern for me bar the last twenty did the best. Wellens and Oakley were lazy and made a meal of most passes. King disappeared after starting well. Fryatt missed two massive chances and was a little greedy. Waghorn was like a bull in a china shop initially. Howard and Campbell did well. Weale too.

That said, we collectively kept our shape well and defended set pieces well. Disappointed at our decision to have two banks of four for 45 minutes when they were clear shite at the back.

I'm going to take the long view on this...because that way its all positive (in my opinion anyway)
I've always said that what I wanted from this season was consolidation at Championship level.A top ten finish will do me fine.If we achieve that by next May we will have everything we need.

A manager firmly in place for 2 years with a team that is 100% his that will follow his plans.
A team/squad that is settled, know each other & can play together at this level.
The opportunity for Nigel to sit down & decide what needs strengthening & what doesn't on the back of a solid season & a greater likelihood of being able to get the players he wants.

Before that he has the chance to make minor adjustments in January too.All this has to be positive.

What is also positive is that I'm sure everyone feels we would never have won tonight's game 18 months ago.Reading carry all the attacking threat of a sleeping Frenchman but under Holloway or Allen or Levein we would have found a way to gift them a goal.To play not brilliantly & still win away from home is something every decent team needs to be able to do.We've done it twice in a month. We now have a TEAM (maybe even a SQUAD!) up until last season all we had was a collection of players.

Basically we are halfway to securing our place in this league before Halloween & I'm ecstatically happy with that.
We are a team & a club in a transitional period & we need to remember it.We've come a hell of a long way from the shambles/joke we were a year & a half ago.

What a ****ing shambolic performance.

Why NP did not take action to take the left back off who was obviously 100% ****ed is beyond me, it very nearly cost us 2 points and NP would be to blame totally.

Why we play people out of position just for the sake of giving them a game is beyond me, King was an absolute disgrace, I think the only reason he was never taken off is because Nigel never even realised he was on the ****ing pitch, what a waste of a place.

It is clear that Oakley is totally wasted in the role he played tonight, we need to stop playing King for the sake of it and move Oakley into the middle of the park where he should be, and at the same time giving a naturally right sided midfielder a chance; Adam's must have shagged NP's Mrs.

Bringing Bruno on for Gally was just crazy when it was clear Ryan was blowing like Roy Cropper after the charity run, madness.

I stand by my point in the other thread that Nigel Pearson cannot select the right 11 and has failed to do so in every game so far, I cannot however take away the massive achievments so far, and it is these achievments that will make the majority of posters on here slag this post off and dismiss the majority of the points I make, It will take someone like QPR taking advantage of Wayne Brown's inability to close a player down for some people to realise that some big problems do dwell in our ranks.

I do think we have one of the strongest sub's benches in the league and this is partly the reason we are actually doing as well as we are, long may that continue, although it would be nice the have the best starting 11 in the first place.

Leicester City, the biggest 1 half team in the league?

Nothing to do with the post, I slag you off because I think you are a ****!....:icon_bigg

Too ture but I fear we may be in a minority. :icon_conf

I don't get why so many people are critcising King... thought he did ok... not brilliant, bit anonymous, but what he did was fine.

Thought he played better than Oakley, who seemed to be hitting wayward passes and giving the ball away most of the night.

I thought Fryatt and Waghorn showed signs that they could form a decent partnership. Would like to see Gallagher have a go upfront with Fryatt though... thought he chased everything tonight, really put the effort in... first half in particular.

Not a good performance... in fact a pretty bad performance, but we won, so who cares?

Oh, and I thought Brown was solid and reliable in the air... but as soon as it's on the ground he's not so assured!

Was impressed by Weale.

Fantastic post, agree with most points. And by the way why do we want Davids?

Great post waveypants.

Thanks. But I think I just found myself agreeing with some of lako's points so I may be in the process of coming down with Swine Flu or something. So all my posts from now in will possibly be shite.Apologies in advance.

I think Oakley has to go in the middle with Wellens as well. McGivern was too regularly caught out of position tonight, I'd bring Berner back to start next game.

Looking forward to Friday, I think we have the potential to frustrate QPR if we stop them scoring early and we might sneak away with something.. they are obviously bang in form and will be a real test.
