It’s the only thing that we can cling on to, that we somehow start dispatching the other teams down the bottom the way we did in November, as they aren’t actually very good either.

Yeah they were awful in that first 20-30 mins, but we were even worse!

Everyone up to Wolves are still catchable.

Maybe even Fulham and Chelsea if you've been drinking already and consider Fulham are imploding and Chelsea have as bad a manager as we've had in charge for the past 2 games.

I think we'll need 10 points.

3 wins and a draw from there... It's a big improvement in form but it's possible.

Well...Liverpool are actually complete & utter shite away from Anfield.

Thats it. Thats my dose of optimism. Now I'm off back to the bottle.

EDIT: Fulham definitely have that on-the-beach-already look about them.

I don't argue that we're in a tricky financial position - but I don't think we'd be as ****ed as you say.

Because like you say, everyone will be for sale. Even the players we don't want to sell.

We'd sell Maddison for 30-40m still. That alone covers a lot of it.

Barnes, Nacho, Castagne, Ndidi, maybe also Ricardo and Daka all are still saleable assets. For that collection, you'd be looking at at least £50m in and big wages off the bill.

So while I agree it's not going to be pretty, and that everyone will be available, I think we can still sell our way out of the worst of the financial situation so we don't end up with only what's left of the academy and then any old freebies we can get. At least for a season...
8 players are out of contract at the end of the season that is probably 6 million a year in wages, we also have another 8 entering their final year at the start of next season. Hopefully the board have instructed the head of recruitment with two plans, one for the premiere league and one for the championship.

If we are relegated and I sincerely hope we are not, we have a massive opportunity to clear the decks and stabilise the club and get us going again, the important part will be not to panic i.e. we must be promoted immediately and we buy tons of journeymen to help us do it.

I may be looking back with blue tinted glasses however, when we went into league 1 we restructured and had a clear vision of what we were going to do, and the foundation of success was borne out of competent recruitment. Promotion to the premiere league was ahead of schedule but we had players who were in large already premiere league standard and thus we were able to build and strengthen?

And I bet they'll be the first to sing the 'just like Forest, you live in the past' song to opposition fans.

Well we still sing about a bang average striker from about 25 years ago for ****s sake!.....

Far too many cretins support us I'm afraid.

Heskey? Cottee? Marshall?

Roberts is the one, although he could smash a burger at TJs on Saturday night before going home with the girls he pulled at Crystals.
It's Krystals.

We still have one of the easier run ins.

Plenty of 6-pointers to play as well, of which we have both the most and are the only ones with two home games against relegation rivals:

LEE v LEI
LEI v EVE
LEI v WHU

NFO v SOU
WHU v LEE

We must win the next 4 games to avoid leaving it to the last game of the season. Leeds, Forest and Everton have the harder run ins, for me, 33 points will probably just scrape it meaning Bournemouth have done enough to survive.

If we win the next four games then I think the bottom 3 will be Southampton, Forest and Leeds.

Tbh, I can't see us beating Wolves. Easy run-in or no, I just can't see us getting the points we'll need to stay up. The Leeds match will, for me, show what we're made of under this new regime.

I think you are right. And even if we achieve a result from that game, the odds feel quite stacked against us.

Beat Wolves and Leeds and things could look a bit different this time next week.

We won't beat Wolves, it'll be a plucky draw at best. We won't win again this season, we're down I'm afraid.
