Not this guy was it ?
From Florida (and TCPalm.com):
Jensen Beach junior Edvin Worley earned a dream spot on the U.S. Soccer U-17 national team, but he might not be allowed to take it.Link:
His father, Cecil, has hired an attorney to help the family find a way to expedite the process of Edvin becoming a U.S. citizen. Worley, a British national, has had his green card in the U.S. for three years, but rules require he have it five years before he is eligible for citizenship.
...
If Worley joins the team, he would leave Jensen Beach next year and go to school in Bradenton for his senior year. But that is contingent on his ability to establish U.S. citizenship by the start of the team's practice season in July.
The team plays in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which runs Aug. 18-Sept. 9.
"It's going to be tough, but I think we can do it. The coaches have said they will look elsewhere if he doesn't have his citizenship in time," Cecil Worley said. "We just need a little bit of help, maybe from a congressman. We need to find someone to help make it happen by waiving the time limit for Edvin's citizenship."

He was named MVP when his team won the USL Super-Y U16 title.
He was also MVP of a tournament the Region 3 team played in, and won, in 2005:
