interesting to red cl's article on the blue army site Levein: It's up to you

by Bill Anderson

Blue-in-the-face Craig Levein has said so much to his relegation-haunted players that he feels the best course is to let their own performances do the talking.

Levein has held loads of meetings with his Leicester City squad.

He was trying to stamp out the inconsistency and wild swings between good and bad results as City hovered above the relegation zone before eventually slipping into it on Saturday following the 2-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Some of the videos would have been uncomfortable viewing for several players and the following discussions would pull no punches.

But Levein said: "It is up to them now. The talking must come from them out on the field and I hope they all realise the situation we are in. We must have had more meetings in recent weeks than any business office.

"Now the fact that we are in the bottom three should be enough for them to fully realise what they need to do.

"We have got ourselves into this position, no-one else, and no-one else can pull us out of it.

"I sense the players are beginning to get that message."

Saturday's meeting against Cardiff at the Walkers Stadium is assuming huge significance.

On the one hand, Levein welcomes the chance to make the first moves towards survival but on the other he realises the pressure which both he and his side are under.

He said: "I am now less interested in how well we play, simply getting points on the board as quickly as possible.

"With 18 games to go, there is plenty of time to get out of this trouble.

"But we want to move away from the drop zone as soon as possible.

"We will have Ryan Smith back for Saturday, which is important for us, and if the fans get behind us as they did in the previous home game against Spurs, it can only help.

"We share their feelings of frustration and disappointment but they showed in the FA Cup tie they can have a positive effect on us, and we will need all the help we can get from everyone."

New striker Matty Fryatt, who went on for his debut at Hillsborough on Saturday, will not be risked in tonight's reserve game against Arsenal at the Marston's Stadium in Hinckley.

That is to ensure the 19-year-old has fully recovered from his hamstring injury and he looks likely to start the match against Cardiff.

sounds like a boring 4-5-1 line up, it also sounds like he has given up on the talk side of coaching, surely we can bring in some motovational talkers to gee us up just before we run on,get a few club legends in the shed to stir the fookers up. even slapping a few heads might get em go'in. anything that works. yeh lets get into punishment:075:

I can see the headlines now: LCFC 0-4 Cardiff. Levein resigns after lastest humiliation. I can also see:

LCFC 2-1 Cardiff, Leicester finally get back to winning ways!

I also see dead people.

I had an email the day before yesterday from a City fan (on another forum) who had dreamt that I was dead.

My friend works as a groundsman at aberdeen football club, rumour has it that McNaughton will be signing for leceister. Calderwood has also been spotted going in to leeds football club to ask about a possible transfer target, most likey a loan deal
