I’m keen to know how involved Cooper was in the summer. If these signings are his, I’m not going to hold anyone else to account for how bad they are.
Definitely a level of involvement - we’ll never know how much though. If we had given a brand new manager 100% reign to do what the hell he wanted, that would be pretty stupid.

It still doesn’t excuse that the same group of players are playing worse and getting worse results (I mean the Newcastle and Wolves games were two of the worst I’ve seen in a long time), and the best signing we made in the summer is finding himself on the bench.

I’m not even going to blame Ruud. I can’t blame him for accepting a job he should never have been offered in the first place. We need to hold Top to account, but that’s never going to happen with this fan base.

Anyone who thinks we were playing better under Cooper is either misremembering or being deliberately obtuse. It's a nonsense to suggest that our performances against Brighton, Man City, Liverpool and Villa weren't markedly better than anything we saw under Cooper.

I mean, we still look shit to be fair but it's a slight level of shit up from where we were. At least we haven't let this duffer spend loads of cash on complete and utter garbage....

....yet.

The only criticism I have of him so far (which I think is fair) is that he should be starting Buonanotte. Nothing he can really do about JJ. There is no other recognisable right back at the club.

On his salary I would suggest he can afford a hit man, and I'm not referring to Ian Ormondroyd.

Listening to the BSLB pod on the way home and I feel a bit silly now. Their theory is that Ayew is better than Buonanotte at tracking back, so the reason Buonanotte isn’t getting a start is a lack of trust in JJ. I think there’s something in that when I think about it. Ruud just doesn’t trust him and has to go with the best option to protect him.

That worked well!

The problem with that of course, is that Ayew is shit at defending. He's no better than Buonanotte at tracking back but offers us less going forward. If it's true however, at least he is aware of how shit JJ is playing.

The Brentford game in this respect killed Buonanotte I reckon
