Football is entertainment.

If one does not wish to be entertained, why pay for professional football? One can watch pub footballers for free. :102:

Because the majority support Leicester City. If you support the Red Lion then presumbaly you go and watch them. Taking your point to the extreme you might as well go and support Arsenal and when they aren't the most entertaining team, change to whoever is.

I despair with this place.

Personally, I think watching football as a neutral and watching footballer as a supporter are two entirely different things.

As Durham says, we pay watch Leicester because we have an emotional tie with them. Your argument could just as easily be made by saying "If one wants to be entertained by good football, why pay for Championship football? One can watch Premier League or Champions League football in the pub for free."

When I watch football as a neutral, sure I want to see teams playing good football, but when I watch Leicester or England pay I have an emotional tie to the game, the enjoyment in watching a team you support is in the drama of it, the ecstasy of a win or a goal, not how many times you pass back and forth, you can get enjoyment of watching a game that way as a neutral, but when watching as a supporter the result is 90% of what matters.

Precisely. Being entertaining is "icing on the cake" if you win, and of no value whatsoever if you lose.

I'd sooner watch an entertaining 4-3 loss to man united in the premier, than a 1-0 win at home to scunthorpe.

That is just not right, deep down you cannot possibly call yourself a city fan.

Surely, if all you want is a victory but, it must be Leicester City then, the sooner we are relegated to the Second Division, the better.

Better still, get kicked out of the league, dismantle our ground and put up something that the league would not accept. We could then have super victories each week.

Exactly this. When I watch a neutral game I always hope for a massive brawl, a few red cards, and a 5-5 thriller. But when I watch a Leicester match, or a game that has any impact on us, I want the result above all else.

What would you sooner City do:

1. Play in the premier, lose about half of our league games, get the odd tonking and finish mid table.

Or:

2. Take the piss in league one?

I know what I'd sooner take!

And what makes you think we will play more "entertaining football" in the Premier League? :102:

Of course I'd rather see Leicester be a good Premier League team than in League One, but that's because I want to see Leicester be successful, that's why I follow them, not because by rights Leicester would be playing more "entertaining" football in the PL.

If you don't want to see your side be successful then what is the point of attaching emotional ties to a team?! You can watch "entertaining" football without supporting someone.

In fact, surely the whole notion of supporting a team takes away from truly enjoying football as entertainment as there is bound to be the added emotion involved in winning and losing?! So if you purely to enjoy good football, the idea of supporting a team makes no sense.

As BG says I can't even fathom why anyone would rather see the football team they support lose and play good football than see them win, what is the ****ing point of following a team, much less a Second Division team if that is the case?! if you want to see good football you'd go and watch Arsenal or Barcelona and not bother if they win or lose and not cheer when they score, but just go and enjoy the passing football.

what about the 3rd option, of playing in the premiership and pissing it by a mile.
