Cannot see how Walsh attains legend status worthy of a statue. On that basis you would have to include Elliot, Izzet, Lennon and Tim Flowers!

I know what he meant, but I think if he gets a statue anywhere it should be here, because he spent more time here than anywhere else. Lineker did the same, but BN thinks he should have a statue. I don't see the difference between the two. Both from Leicester, and both excelled for England.

If Lineker had spent his best years playing for our local rivals and celebrating trophy after trophy with them and then showed no affiliation with City once retired from the game, I wouldn't want a statue of him either. When combined, Shilton played more games for our two main local rivals than us. I'm proud that Shilton started here, but there is nothing else to give him the necessary status.

And statistically, Lineker played 42% of his playing career with us, Shilton just 28%. If you asked the average football fan (of City or elsewhere) which they'd associate more with Leicester, I'd guess that 90% would say Lineker.

Walsh 369 appearances, 53 goals 'Captain Fantastic'
Izzet 269 appearances, 38 goals
Elliott 245 appearances, 26 goals
Lennon 170 appearances, 6 goals
Flowers 54 appearances, 0 goals

And that's just based on stats. I love them all, but it's definitely worthy of a different status

We already had that statue, mainly in our reserve team, from 2001-2004.

:icon_lol:

Nathan Blake, Nicholas Priet and David Bell all worthy candidates IMHO.

Unfortunately they got to feature in the first team. Still reckon they'd have struggled against a team of those training cones.

Walsh and Izzet both scored 1 goal about every 7 games so Izzet gets a statue too?

I don't see a case for anyone else to be honest. Banks and Lineker statues on the concourse area at the entrance to the stadium would be appropriate and very nice to see.

I think Arthur Rowley, the top goalscorer in the history English football would be a great candidate. Arthur Chandler too, who lead the line to the club's highest ever league finishes and scored over 270 goals for the club.

I'd like to see a statue of Homer, Alex and Miles in a compromising position, while Joe_Fox looks on, creating a spreadsheet.

A Walsh's celebration statue would make me smile a little more whenever I walk up to the ground.

Why stop there, why not commission an Angel of the North type 'Walsheh' facing roughly NNE on the A6 in the Birstall / Mountsorrel area. That would make me smile. :icon_bigg

There will always be argument over which of our 'heroes' should be honoured in this way. Let's not forget that it is the fans that are the lifeblood of any team, not the 'passing-through' players even if they were born here.

For that reason, there can really only be one choice for the statue.

Ladies and gentlemen, I propose............... BERNIE :icon_bigg
