After taking 2 points off us at Palace, the Premier league are now in cahoots with all and sundry to try and cause upheaval in the LCFC camp, to get us relegated.
Well, no evidence for any of this but let’s continue
Of course this is only my theory
So you just made it up
but it could be bollox like everything else we read
Probably is
but it could also be true.
But you just made it up
Whos knows?
You, at a minimum, because you just made it up
Hmmmm indeed

I Never wanted him in the first place but absolutely 100% want him to thrive and for us to work as a club unit.

That said, I’ve spoken to some associates who are For3st fans and they all say the same thing. That he sets up every match to not lose, seems to have some aversion to attacking and has no plan b. Every match is a dogfight aimed at not losing, rather than winning. I get that if you don’t concede, that’s half the job, but we have one of the weaker squads in the league and our forward players are probably the strongest part of the squad, except for perhaps Ricardo.

They also say that he became so loved there because he brought them back up after 22 years away. The love, togetherness and energy from fans to any manager in that situation was bound to be nothing short of infatuation.

More so, given the way he did it with them languishing at the bottom when he first came in. He brings them up after decades away, then that momentum just about kept them up in their first season back. The fuel of keeping them up was indeed that momentum, recent history and camaraderie of the previous season’s success.

But he doesn’t have any of that with us. In fact, it was a lukewarm response from our lot with many being underwhelmed. We get the Cooper of his third season with Fore$t minus the affection and togetherness.

Finally, I have to be honest, the bond he built with their fans is unnerving for me. And if a lot of you dig a little deeper, you might admit that him being such a modern legend there, might give you some feeling of unease, or something to that affect.

I don’t like that he’s loved by them so much. I don’t like that we went down the same season they stayed up and he was their manager. Moreover, nothing in his time in Nottingham has at all convinced me that he was the right manager, or had the right style to keep us up this season, especially in a season with potential points deduction, one of the weaker squads in the division, and with us being in a fragile position overall.

That being said, in Steve Cooper we trust. I back him until he’s gone. You gotta give a guy some time, and hope he has it to keep us up. I can’t help but think, though, that his time is up soon. Something doesn’t feel right.
Honestly, I couldn’t give a flying **** that their fans like him and he had success there. The only thing that tells me is that he did well for them and I live in probably one of the two or three most affected towns by support split between the two clubs. I also lived in central Nottingham and played football there with a team of almost exclusively Forest fans. His past affiliation with them means nothing to me, other than a track record of what he did with a different team.

I want him to do well, obviously, but I’ll judge him on what he does with us and all of my Forest supporting mates, who like him very much, are irrelevant to how I judge him.

Ooooooh Forest friends.
Yeah loads of them. Being pretty much equidistant from the two cities and having Forest being very much superior when I was growing up, there are a lot around here. Fortunately, there are also still a lot of us who didn't go that way.

Tell them all they’re ****s. Individually and as a group.

What I find a bit of a surprise, is that the rhetoric over more recent hires has been about us hiring someone with a possession based approach and the style of football being an important consideration, but that really is a bit at odds with the Cooper appointment. I guess this could be partly down to an acceptance of where we are at the minute and the reality that we’re not necessarily going to be able to take that approach this year, but it still seems a bit of a shift.

This is in no way meant to be a judgement of Cooper, more just something I thought about in terms of his appointment.

I would imagine that’s exactly what we want for - but none of them would take it so we had to go for someone (anyone) who would. Even though they play the exact opposite of what we had been doing for the past twelve months, and were also a bit shit.

The whole points deduction thing meant we were a toxic proposition, so it’s entirely our own fault. Don’t blame them for not wanting to touch us with a barge pole.

Different now, obviously, so we might be more attractive (in more ways than one) when we finally have the guts to dump him - as long as we don’t leave it too late.

Yep, all fair points.

It has been a big shift, but I believe it was needed. I think the majority of people realise that playing the “Pep” way with an inferior set of players will never work. See Burnley last season and Southampton this season.

It’s why I found the appointment of Enzo a bit strange, as we then would have needed to completely change our style should we get promoted. But then again we did get promoted playing how we did, so potentially the board knew that back then and thought playing that way and then doing a massive switch was a safer option than appointing someone who was more of a half way house, to then have less of a shift this summer.

Watching a bit of Wolves game last night, Gary Neville derided the playing out from the back.
Think many have just had enough of the suicide football.

Yeah I get that, as I say it’s just a big swing in style again, which feels like a lack of direction in some ways. Not saying it’s wrong necessarily, just a big shift again.
