I'm finding this all very bizarre.

Some of you are saying McLaren will never come here, and some of you are saying we shouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

How can two sets of opinions be so conflicting? Who's right?

Interesting to know who both now and in the past have been interveiwed

Was told by Steve Kind, that he and Elsom interveiwed Harry Rednapp for the job before taking on Taylor.

Didn't get the Job as he had a reputation within the game for not being that honest (now common knowlege)

Steve McClaren Biog:

Not the most exciting person in the world, but reliable.
Late 40's
Associated with a club we love to hate
Northerner
Ginger hair

I've got a sneaky feeling he'll never be accepted.

Well all the above relate to a certain Gary Megson as well and MM went for him as well. BUT if we took him on and then after the first few Premiership manaagement casualties he buggars off wherever we are back where we are again

I firmly believe if the fans treat a Manager with disdain for the colour of his hair and the club's he's previously managed, then he has every right to walk away whenever he likes.

Do you think he objected to the chants of 'ginger Mourinho' then?

I don't think anyone with any sense disliked Megson for the superb job he did in getting the trees relegated. Megson made more of the trees connection than the fans did.

The reason some people disliked him because he plays dull, unsuccessful football.
People who keep talking about him as though he was any good have short memories, we were dreadful under him, and getting worse.

I felt like a snake charmer beckoning out a snake when writing that post, I knew you'd be along sharpish :icon_lol:

I think that's what he was alluding to... and he meant accepted by the fans, not MM.

Maybe Bolton is a town full of ginger lovers??

I was told today that on the same day MM had a chinwag with McLaren in Vienna. He also met Robert Prosnecki whose currently helping out with the Croat team, he used to play at Pompey and he's looking to move into management.

Or he could just get some hair dye? The slogan for just for men is "you're right on target", maybe we should give some to Matty Fryatt, Steve Howard, Ian Hume and Barry Hayles as well.

one of the most underwhelming options ever. passionless, clueless, pointless.

Harsh on Humey, considering he was stuck out on the right wing most of the season. If he had played down the middle, would have got more than the others put together in my opinion

McClaren - will have illusions of grandeur and wont feel his stock has sunk quite as low as us. Does that mean he would be a good appointment? No.

According to someone on FT, MM was on sky and said it was now between 2 people. Both English and both big names within the game.
