For this board to work it requires contributions of interest about the football club. I thought this was of interest and so in my opinion this thread had some merit being here

I, and the majority of people that use this forum, appreciate the fact that Jeff pays to keep this site running and doesn't ask for anything in return.

Soar Media publish their own magazine; Do you think if Jeff rang them up they'd willingly give him free advertising space in their magazine? Of course they wouldn't, so why should he let people advertise their stuff on his site without even asking permission? It's completely disrespectful.

It's not like he's even being completely unreasonable, if it were an established member's blog or link then I doubt he'd be bothered, but how many posts can you see 'SoarMagazine' making? It takes the piss.

Is it me or is just a little bit sad that Steve Walsh seems to rely on what he was and not what he is or might be? :102:

Nah, it's not just you Stevie. I find it all a little bit tragic to be quite honest. i suppose he's gotta do what he can, but it doesn't seem very steeped in dignity to me.

I think that really is the entire point.
Perhaps people disagree with me, but for me this site is more of a community than it is some sad, soulless aggregator of pseudo-LCFC content.
Signing up with a wank name like 'Soarmagazine' is hardly committing to giving something back to the forum. Even if he turned out to be full of shit, it'd be nice if people could find out for themselves by him contributing something a little more than spamming the place.

There's no doubt a lot of people despise me, but at least I contribute something to the forum, however much you hate me.
You'd all miss me if I went off in a tantrum and don't deny it.

You're a bellend, but you're a ****ing funny bellend Mr Mack. Along with Blue Maniac and Fantasy Fox. It's like you say, this forum isn't a billboard where you can advertise what you like, it's a community.

I can't be expected to explain how my mind works after drinking a bottle of rum!

You, along with the other two, give me a bloody good giggle when I come on here.

I wish you were my dad FACT

I wish you were one of my uncles. One of those uncles who always seems to be pissed whenever you see them, but he makes you laugh and gives you money.

But not one of the uncles you secretly hate because he stinks and stares at your sister's tits.

this site is based on Leicester city football club. Without it this site wouldn't exist and would serve no purpose. Therefore ... it was relevant to the site and useful to the sites contributors.

I think the logic is sound.

two things...

1) are you trying to prove the post was relevant? because NOBODY was disputing that

2) your logic to prove it is was relevant if fine but the middle section is tautological...it could be trimmed to

"this site is based on Leicester city football club. Therefore ... it was relevant"

so bravo, you've proved it was relevant

now try and actually argue against Jeff's point of "read the fecking rules, it's my forum"

I can't believe anyone on here has read it, otherwise this fun little quote would have been mentioned

After one away game, I think it was Southampton, Holloway was incensed by some stick Barry Hayles received from City fans. Following the post match press conference he started laying into them without realising that one radio reporter was still recording.

Olly absolutely lost it and started shouting and swearing at the journalist. He demanded that the quotes didn’t get played on air and got right in his face. He was shaking he was so angry, but he got his way and his comments were never aired.

Fine. The rules are the rules, but my take on this rule is that this rule is designed to stop spammers coming on and posting spam - your view on what constitutes spam is open to debate, but for me this was not.

At no point in this thread have I actually argued against this rule or any other. What I've said is that Jeff's response was unnecessarily hostile, when what was posted was clearly going to be of interest to some, and would have most likely had a link posted on here in a few days anyway.

This board has become increasingly 'insider / outside' based. If your not posting 50x a day, of which 49 posts will be nonsense, then your an outsider and your opinions will be shouted down as the insiders close ranks. Its probably why there's basically only about 5 topics a week on this forum these days, and 3 of those are match threads. Perhaps I'm alone in thinking this, but it seems like almost every thread I read someone is having to spend ages defending a fairly standard opinion to the point where the topic being discussed loses all relevance.

Would you say that the Talking Balls forum might equally be of interest to readers of the Soar Magazine? I still don't see an advert for TB on there, despite Jeff's request.

Do you agree that what's sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander? Or do you just want to moan about TB and its rules and members?

I do agree. I think it would be on interest to them.

I hope Jeff does try and get some publicity. Lord knows we need some new members on here.

The fact that people have different opinions on what is spam is precisely why I brought in the "zero tolerance" rule. That way there can be no argument. I make it VERY CLEAR as part of the registration process and in the forum rules that any new member who wants to plug anything should ask permission first.

People have signed up to plug (alleged) charity events, other football websites, fake viagra etc. Some of these may be of interest, some may not. The final decision should not be down to the person posting it.
The only way to make it clear what is allowed is to make everyone ask permission first.

I think we should all synchronise our opinions to discourage disagreements.

That would be great. One person could then post on behalf of us all and the rest of us could get on with our work.
