I'd not renew my season ticket if they banned smoking. It doesn't make sense. There is NO convincing research which shows that passive smoking is a statistically-measurable risk to health, and the Walkers has the best air-con system invented - fresh air.
This entire mallarkey is constructed by a nanny state to make us feel that some people are hurting us as a nation. The last nation pre the late 20th century to ban smoking in public was Nazi Germany who also made a big issue of it. No smoking, but let's gas a few million undesirables, eh?
Alcohol is responsible for a million times more secondary effects - road traffic accidents, domestic violence, unwanted pregnancies, street fights and rapes.
Shall we close all pubs?
Shall we ban the sale of alcohol at the Walkers?
And I wouldn't dream of telling the morbidly obese woman on the row in front of me that the stink of fat in her half-time burger makes me retch.
Some of these holier-than-thou arguments on what is at best junk science and fiddled imaginary statistics make my blood boil.
And I felt exactly the same in the ten years when I gave up smoking.

Making us watch city without some kind of stimulation, will have all of Leicesters paramedics camped outside the ground waiting for the inevitable mass heart failure.

Making the comparison with Nazi Germany and mass genocide is a little bit of an over reaction...........

When I was at the Brazil v Jamaica match, I was sat with the Jamaican fans, and all you could smell was weed. Me and my old man were high for the majority of the match. :033: :030:

Patches or gum doesn't work in my experience, they are not a replacment for a cigarette nor do they help you give up (as i found they made feel like a cigarette than acctually smoking)

As much as innocent does raise some valid points with regards Nazi Germany/alcohol, i would still get my season ticket, as i don't smoke at the match for one reason my dad doesn't like and as he sits next me, i thought it the best thing to do.

But when do the government stop banning things?
when we're a nation of 'robots' and can only do/say what the government want us to say/do?
As for banning it in the pubs for people who work in pubs, I seriously think the people who get bar jobs and doesn't expect to be in a smokey environment should seriously consider getting some commonsense, it would be like getting a job as a driving instructure expecting not to have to teach people. Same goes for people who go to pubs not expecting to be in a smokey environment, It is commonsense that some people will be smoking and have to be expecting it, unless it has a non smoking.

that said it has passed now!

the one thing i don't understand though is why ban it in private members only places? surely that should be up for the members to decide?

I have to say that if not being able to smoke is a reason for giving up your season ticket, then you're not much of a fan... buy a patch or some gum :icon_roll

It's the principle, not the nicotine. Don't you understand that?
Do you think alcohol should be banned at the ground?
Do you want us all to vote on it at half time on Saturday?
So why should any of us be allowed to decide on banning something that does no clearly-identified or statistically-proven harm to others? Why this sudden urge to stamp on ciggies but not breathalyse every fan in the ground because the stink of his breath might upset the person next to him and destroy his liver in 50 years' time? As an outpost of the USA, can we invent secondary alcoholism with the same ease that we've invented 'passive smoking'?
I'm a left-wing libertarian and I don't like people telling me or anyone else what we can and can't do on the basis that they're looking after my health.

I was unaware of the survey even though I'm a ST holder.

All smokers should go fox hunting this weekend, no chance of getting arrested for that one.

The argument is, one of the major reasons for the ban is to protect the bar staff, therefore , the argument goes, why should workers in a private club be subjected to the dangers of smoke inhallation unlike those who are protected.
Members decide most rules, but the club still has to adhere to Health & Safety legislation just like other establishments.

Oh dear, I'm afraid that due to Godwin's Law you've lost the arguement. Let's face it, banning smoking isn't even invading Poland, let alone gassing c.6million Jews, gays, communists, gypsies and so on...

Actually he doesn't. He makes no direct comparison with Nazi Germany nor does he label LCFC Nazis, but makes a historical point - so unless I'm mistaken Godwin's doesn't apply.

If "The last nation pre the late 20th century to ban smoking in public was Nazi Germany" isn't a direct comparison what is?

smoking is a dirty habit, which has nothing but bad consquences for the individual and the people around them-so stop your fookin moaning and give it up.

I'll give up smoking if you go teetotal. :)

tbh it isn't just the health risks about smoking(and we can argue about how high they are forever) but if i spend £40 on perfume i still want to be able to smell it when i walk out of the ground....not stinky fag smoke which has permeated itself into my clothing.

this happened at Brighton.
i don't CARE if people want to lower their lifespan by smoking...but what i object to, is people sitting in front of me turning their heads after having a drag on a cigarette and then blowing all the smoke in MY direction...

i made my point loud and clear when i said they should blow the smoke on themselves and if they love smoking that much. they never lit up for the rest of the game.....
