Same idea as mine, just yours is outside the ground so to speak mine is at pitch level.

I don't see the problem with that, although I'm sure some namby pamby asthma sufferer sitting in row a that never moves at halftime in the 85yrs he's supported the club will complain.

I'm asthmatic but I have no objection to people smoking in the ground providing it isn't in the concourse areas or on the stairs. Out in the open is fine with me. If people smoke right next to me I will either move or ask them to. So long as the smoke doesn't affect me directly I don't mind.

as an ex smoker i can see both sides of the coin...........smokers want a fag when they are having a pint and cant combine the two at the moment.due to no extraction system non smokers dont want a pea souper on the concourse at half time.my solution barriers outside certain gates at half time then open the gates this can be policed by the stewards who now currently employed to walk round asking people to put fags out.

But if something is banned, its banned. If they want a fag more than watching a city game then thats a pretty poor excuse for a supporter. And before anybody starts getting on my back and being anti smoking and the lot, I used to smoke on average 3 packs a day, and I can say hand on heart this ban would never have bothered me. It would have made me smoke less which I would have regarded as a good thing. The majority of smokers would like to quit, the minority dont want to admit it but like to look rebellious

Fair point well made. Outside it is for those who want a pint and at pitch level for those who want a smoke.

not like the club to miss out on taking money off people

so i can have a few beers, put some bets on, watch the game, eat some pies

but if i want to smoke, i have to buy them before i get in

perhaps the margins are too low, as i recall from my retail days, margins on fags are about 5% to 10%

Why can't we just continue with the present scheme which bans smoking except prior to the match and at half-time? That suits me fine, and no one, in all the 14 years I've had a Season Ticket has ever asked me to put my ciggie out or has done that hand-flapping that people do when they object.
The bad decision was when they made smoking in the concourse only. That was sheer lunacy.
The Family Stand is non-smoking, so any real objectors could sit in that.
Maybe we could ban the Away fans smoking? <wicked grin>
The present scheme seems to suit everyone. Does anyone here have a problem with it?

Like I said I could see off 60 fags a day no problem, and sometimes a lot more than that. I suppose I was lucky in that I managed to stop without any problems. Its not life or death to go without snout for a couple of hours.
The good side is I can now taste things better, fingers are not discoloured and I can moan about smokers....:icon_razz

my old boy used to smoke 40 a day, despite not being able to smoke at work (down the pit)
