Is this the same Nikola Zigic that almost signed for Arsenal in the summer?

Can't see it happening but we could do with a big centre forward that can head the ball. Knowing us, we will sign him and then start playing the best passing football ever and never the long ball!

In fact, it will NOT happen!

thought that was why we had horsfield :102:

From over a year ago now, but I think it has some relevance :

FROM BBC FOOTBALL

Red Star Belgrade have confirmed that Arsenal have been in contact to express an interest in striker Nikola Zigic.

But a club spokesman told BBC Sport that Red Star will not consider selling the 25-year-old until the summer.

Liverpool are also chasing the highly-rated Serbia and Montenegro international, while West Ham had a £7m bid rejected last week.

However, Red Star are keen to hang on to the 6ft 8in frontman as they bid to win the national league title.

Reports had suggested that Arsenal representatives had travelled to Belgrade on Monday to open negotiations with Red Star president Dragan Stojkovic.

But spokesman Milan Boscovic told BBC Sport: "There is no way Arsenal met with our president on Monday as he is elsewhere on family business."

Zigic, twice Serbia and Montenegro's player of the year in the last three years, has scored eight goals in his country's top flight and six in the Uefa Cup this season.

He is expected to be one of the stars of his national team when they make their World Cup finals debut in Germany this year.

slightly different class though, one is a top-notch international player that has been linked with many top European teams and the other is an ex-brickie.

I know which one I would rather play, but I also know which one won't want to play for us!!

Ship out Fryatt over Hammond and Horsfield. Are you insane? Why drop a 20 year old with all the potential to be a very good striker over the striker who can never score in normal means (his goal at Cardiff he took two extra touches) and the 34 year old pro whose best days are behind him.

potential doesnt mean much if the player is disinterested and unfit, hammond has scored more goals then him and has pace which wins us free kicks.

cool, why dont you but hammond of leicester and start your own team.

RL just said during commentary that Todorov expected to sign on Monday. Has anything so definite been reported anywhere else?

Good news, but who needs him when we have the Horse? ;)

We didn't have many strikers until about a month ago, now it seems we have loads! Fryatt, Hume, Elvis, Cad, Horse, Glombard, Todorov!
