Yet more!

I was in England and Scotland for a couple of weeks in September. These were all taken around Leics.

Storm Petrel. I was lucky to be with my brother and his colleague, who both have Schedule 1 licenses to handle protecting breeding species such as this Stormie. We were on the island of Mousa, which has 8% of the world's population of these amazing little seabirds.

Mousa, a very nice little island off the east coast of south Mainland Shetland.

Arctic Redpoll. We found this bird within five minutes of arriving on Mousa and it turned out to be the rarest bird ever found on the island. This photo was published in last moth's Birding World magazine.

My brother lives on Shetland. He used to post on TB a few years back under the name Virkie Fox. This is Virkie, where he lives, South Mainland Shetland.

Really, it was nice to be back in Leicester and all that, but... well, take today, for example.

Got up early in the relative cool, drove down to Madera Canyon where I spent a pleasant morning watching exotic wildlife and walking the dog in stunning scenery. The maple, walnut and cottonwood trees are starting to turn so there are bright reds and yellows in the mix. It's absolutely gorgeous. It was over 80F (27C) by the time I left, so pleasantly warm still, but it's cooled off again this evening. It's the perfect time of year.

Gotta love it! :icon_bigg

I'm leading a birding tour in an area of cotton fields tomorrow in rural Pima county, just for a bit of variety. Those who have heard of Pima cotton will now know where it comes from.

This spider was up Mount Lemmon, i had to physically stop my wife from picking it up after she claimed they don't bite.

Nice views.

Could have had an asthma attack yesterday, with all that smoking up the back eh? :icon_wink

Pissed me right off, that did. I'm also allergic to cigarette smoke; my poor nose was red raw by the time we got back to Leicester, and it messed up my eyeliner.

I bet the wankers can go 45 minutes without smoking when they're flying out to Benidorm.

Not a single football club I've visited since the ban was introduced has enforced it. I'll be writing a letter of complaint to several clubs shortly.

I must admit, I was pretty gobsmacked by the stewards response when you told them. They just looked at you gone out.

Yeah, they kind of looked at each other as if to say "what are we supposed to do about it". Er, your job?

The twats near us were taking the piss; this wasn't a crafty fag, at least two of them were chain smoking throughout the whole game!!
