Ferruginous Hawk. A real stunner!


Northern Mockingbird.


Wilson's Snipe.


Wilson's Snipe again.


This last one shows you how good its all round vision is, being able to see almost directly behind itself. A sure sign this is a bird which has to evade predation due to being quite tasty!

With the exception of the mockingbird photo, which was taken at Agua Caliente Park (near drew's Mrs), the rest were taken at the aforementioned "Roque" Santa Cruz Flats, a rich agricultural area mainly under cotton and sod. I still enjoy the fact I'm visiting sod farms - they actually farm sods!

A couple of photos from my holiday last year in Sri Lanka.

We stayed at the fortress hotel near Galle which was beautiful. Great beaches and wildlife with massive (4ft) turtles in the swell where the photos were taken.

I can recommend Sri Lanka to anyone, a truly amazing country!

My owl photo is much better :icon_wink. Taken on my crap phone camera through my car windscreen.
I was so surprised to see an owl by the side of the road I just stopped my car as close as I could, but I didn't have a proper camera with me or I could have ended up with a decent photo :icon_sad:
