oh no, the potests have moved on....

If the sudanese are so desperate to imprison people maybe we could do them the huge favour of sending all the sudanese who are living it up in our prisons back.

That was the cover story.

Every religion is a political device, always has been, always will be.
It amazes me that anyone believes religion has anything to do with God.

Religion and God are connected Macky. You can't have a religion without some form of God. But I can see your point. There have been many atrocious crimes committed in the name of "God". The Protestant v Catholic rivalry in Ireland was more about England wanting to occupy Ireland rather than an issue of faith. It was political rather than religious. And the current problems in the middle east are caused by people using religion to further their own cause. Namely to occupy territory and control people thereby accumulating wealth and power. It's all fuelled by greed, lust and hatred. It has nothing to do with God. It's all about personal hidden agendas.

The only people that believe that God has anything to do with religion are the deluded congregation.

Those that control the religion, and hence the congregation, know the truth that it is all fabrication and create the edicts, tenets and doctrine as it suits their purposes. They will also very often believe something completely different to that which they profess.

I'm outrage by this hash sentance. Something should be done!

15 days inside seems fair enough, but deportation to Liverpool....

My take on this is that Religion is all well and good in undeveloped societies (such as Sudan). Religion is nothing more or less than a very effective method to control a population from anarchy by terrifying them into submission. Without a dominant rule of law, this is necessary. As a society, once you've developed suitably, Religion is pointless bollocks.

If you put a 'developed' individual into an 'undeveloped' society, and they fail to appreciate the importance of a feared and necessary Religion, they deserve anything and everything they get. If they stone her, shoot her, imprison her, deport her, so be it.

I have "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" in my head everytime I read this title of this thread.
