Re: The annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Autumn/Winter 2011-12 rumours th

Presumably he's managed to get his contract cancelled in preparation for a move elsewhere.

Used to be a decent player, not really heard much recently.

He's only 24 years old. Can't have gone off too much. Think he must have just got ousted by Sinclair.

My thoughts exactly, would be the type of player I would like to see us get in, someone with something to prove.

Re: The annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Autumn/Winter 2011-12 rumours th

Yep and only on a free there shouldn't be that much risk either.

Re: The annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Autumn/Winter 2011-12 rumours th

is he a right or left winger?

Looking at the Swansea forum, general opinion seems to be that he has the potential to be a very good player indeed if he settles down somewhere, but is too much of a confidence player and once he lost his confidence at Swansea that was it.

Incidentally, didn't realise it was Sousa who signed him for Swansea.

Anyway, from what I've read on there it may be a risky one but it's worth a punt on a free imo.

John__Percy on twitter (fairly reliable reporter)

"Former #Swansea winger David Cotterill trained with #LCFC today with a view to a possible move. Free agent"

Wiki has this too
Cotterill was released from his contract by mutual consent from Swansea City on 12/01/12, he goes after making no appearances in the premier league season 2011/12. Later that day David teamed up with Leicester City for a training session with a view to earning a permanent deal.

Wiki seems to put this "confidence issue" over also
The arrival of Scott Sinclair from Chelsea at the beginning of the 2010/11 season saw Cotterill employed more as a second striker behind Stephen Dobbie, rather than in his preferred position on the wing. He started the season off well under new Swans manager Brendan Rodgers, putting in some good performances and converting a penalty in a 4-0 win over Preston. However, Cotterill then missed his next two penalties, which on both occasions would have put his side in the lead, and his confidence on the pitch appeared to drop. The first miss came against Norwich City, a game which the Swans eventually lost 2-0, and the second came in a 0-0 draw with Championship pace-setters Queens Park Rangers at the Liberty Stadium. Cotterill did not feature in any games following a 1-0 home win over Barnsley on the 28th December, and was sent out on loan to fellow Championship side Portsmouth on the 17th February 2011.

For 'Wiki' substitute 'Someone who may or may not know anything about football or psychology'

If his preferred position is on the wing I'm sure we will manage to play him up front.

Re: The annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded Autumn/Winter 2011-12 rumours th

Do we need another forward/winger with 'confidence' issues?

We could always try and sign one that is firing on all cylinders and banging goals in every week, who wants to come and play for a bog standard average Championship side.

From the Mockery:

"City have so far made two unsuccessful bids of £1million and £1.5m for winger Cameron Stewart, and are believed to be interested in defender Jack Chester."

Presumably Jack Hobbs and James Chester went into that machine from The Fly, and Jack Chester was the resultant hybrid. If he has the positive attributes of both of them he'll be some player. Sign him up Nigel. They can keep James Hobbs, he's crap.

Steve Walsh has been tweeting that there will be a glut of players arriving next week.
