If Bellemy left Man city to go Cardiff there is a possiblity to get Defoe. The guy played for few clubs and wants first team football, he could revive his career here?

:033: I like the sense of optimism and positivity if such a word exists. However it is not analogous. Defoe has no link to Leicester however tenuous as Bellamy does with South Wales? :102:

I want what they're on.

You don't think any of the top clubs would be interested in Defoe? I disagree, I think there'd be one or two top half premier league sides interested in him if he became available at the right price.

Manure signed Owen last season, so it doesn't seem too unbelievable.

A mate of a mate who knows someone at the club has it on good authority from someone higher up at the club that we are in talks with Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Bet he's on SuperSpuds list as well.

Now that is exactly how a totally unfounded rumour should be constructed :038:

I can't see this ever happening, but I would love it - he would undoubtedly score goals in this league. Van Nistelrooy and Yakubu up front... Wow. But having said that, he'll be 35 by the time the season starts and he won't come cheap - I imagine his wages would be sky high and we're only likely to get one season out of him at most. If it was just a one year contract, then I'd say it would be worth the financial layout.

RVN is out of contract so we'd only have to worry about wages and contract length, all good for the rumour mill.

Defoe's already stated that he doesn't want to sit on the bench (although for the right amount of money I expect he'd do anything...)

Chelsea have just spent £50m on Torres, and have Drogba and Anelka (even if 1 leaves).
Man Utd have Rooney, Tiny Pea and Berbatov.
Liverpool have just spent £50m on Suarez and Carroll.

None of those three will be interested, imho.

If you'd said Arsenal I might have agreed. :icon_bigg

I've also heard this from someone at the club - but this someone has been wrong numerous times before so I'm not getting too excited.

When I sad 'big teams LIKE Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc than I was obviously also referring to Arsenal, Man City, Everton as well. I'd bet there will be one or two top half Premier League sides interested. When players like him become available the top teams will take note and maybe not necessarily just the ones in this country.

It's a different manager and different ownership, so I can easily see them cutting their losses on Waghorn. I'd happily see him sold for that kind of money, I just can't see him ever becoming more than a John Stead-esque Championship journeyman.

Difficult one. Might have been best to have moved him on during last season. I'm afraid that the longer we keep him, the less we will get.

I make no great claims about my source but will pass on the rumour that Heskey, Owen and Crouch have all been at Belvoir Drive recently.

Of all the players that have been suggested Crouch is the one I would most like to see here but sadly he seems to me to be one of the least likely.

Crouch may be a donkey, a freak, a cheat and a thug on the pitch, but a good footballer he is not.

Just to add to the mindless speculation, purely because I'm very bored at work, what about getting John Carew in? He's out of contract at Villa this summer and Stoke don't seem to want to make his move permanent. I know there are probably a few clubs in the premier league that might be interested in taking a punt on him - Sunderland is one name I've heard mentioned - but he might be settled in the midlands and wouldn't have to move to play for us, I imagine we could offer him fairly decent wages and the lure of playing good football with an ambitious club and highly respected manager might appeal to him enough to make him drop a division. If we can get Yakubu, surely it's not too much of a stretch to imagine we could get John Carew? I think he'd be fantastic in this league.
