Theory:

Tottenham end DM's contract by mutual consent and pay his contract out.

Leicester pick up an out of contract player for free outside of a transer window (DM)

In the summer, Leicester by an unkown Tottenham player for an over inflated price. Tottenham are happy because this about covers the money they lost on Danny Murphy. Very fortunate.
