Melton Fox

Dancing Queen
I sit in the family stand, and like others I am getting more and more pissed off with the patronising and sometimes aggressive tone of fellow supporters towards us.

Why is it the fault of every other supporter in the ground that nobody can hear you sing, why do you feel the need to blame us for your own inability to generate a non contrived decent footballing atmosphere.

I'm fed up with hearing stories about when you were little boys going to Filbert Street and the crowd would be phenomenal. Remember, you are now older, and the people that made all the noise back then have largely moved on in life. Some will have given up going at all due to family committments, most people will now go the football with their families and probably sit in the family stand, and a few will still be jumping up and down and singing along with you.

It is your job to carry on the tradition, but no!!, typical bloody youth of today would rather moan and criticise everyone else for not doing it for them, get off your fecking arses and start singing and generating some atmosphere yourself.

It isn't the fault of others if you can't muster up the atmosphere you require, it's your own fault and the only people to blame are yourself.

Remember most of the Dads in the Family Stand are laughing at you lot because when they used to go to football matches as a single youth, they knew how to make a noise and generate an atmosphere. You lot can't.

Deal with it

Melton you are saying this which is party true but then you say things like " They are laughing at you becasue they can remeber how to sing proper songs"
Surely that is just as bad?

Yes, but they laugh to themselves, or just discuss it at the football, they don't embark an some stupid crusade to discredit you

Don't remember saying there was a code of conduct for being a Dad at a football match, I never mentioned how a Dad "should" behave :102:

if some fans want to sing then let them do it and if some dont then thats fair enough as well and both kinds of fans should respect the others actions we are all there for one reason and thats to see city win

What I encounted to Saturday at Doncaster was incredible. My Dad nearly had a word with some bloke about how he was talking to his 3 yr old.

'come here you little sh!t'

'ill whack you in a minute'

'ill hit you so hard, it will take skin off your shoulders'

Unbelieveable.

Point of debate - The Family Stand is quite possibly, the least used stand. I dont know the numbers but from The Kop, there is some space. So why not give an Family area to one of the corners. A couple of blocks in a corner. The South Stand can become a Kop if it wants to. With families being given a whole stand, they are open to abuse and being picked on. I feel the Family Stand is also policed wrong by the stewards who seems all too easy in stamping out anything a child does. It needs to be a more relaxed area.

Stop going to that fecking place then?

Nothing worng with the Family Stand - it's just in the wrong place

It shouldn't be next to the away fans
It shouldn't be next to the happy clappy all-singing drum-banging ultras
And it shouldn't be behind the goal, where the half empty seats are a constant embarrassment
