£12m? What happened to the £30-40m?

Still, we should have bit their hands off at £12m.

Maguire to Utd for £65m in the Mail.
am I the only person who'sd take Smalling and £35-£40m for Maguire as good business?
We got owned at set pieces and conceded lots of goals last years. I don't see how we wouldn't improve with that move...
as long as the money were reinvested.

No, it’s a brilliant idea to sell our best defender.

is he our best defender though? 3 performances at the world cup don't mean we didn't concede more goals than some teams in relegation trouble last season.
id say Evans is our most proven defender and will be the organising leader of the defence this year

How many were his fault?

How many do you reckon he stopped?

No way we should be selling Maguire right now. Hope it doesn't happen.

I'd happily see us bring Smalling in though.

We need to get our business finished pretty soon. We started well but the WC seems to have slowed everything down, but we still have gaps to fill. From the rumours, it seemed like we want a CB, LB and a creative winger as minimum.

I’d be happy with Smalling, he gets a hard time because Match of the Day have been obsessed with things going wrong and Man U since Ferguson retired. I think he’s a really solid defender and we’ve been linked with him in the past.

The defence is a unit, perhaps more so than in any other area of the pitch, so if one part of that 4 or 5 are not playing the same way that ‘side’ of the defence will look weaker.

Maguire and Evans will be an awesome pairing with Perreira on the right.

It will be interesting to see who slots into the centre with those two (perhaps Wes will perform well in a 3)?

Also the left looked weak with either Fuchs or Chilwell but we don’t know how a five will work out.

My gut feeling is that Fuchs could do well in that position with those above around him but with only 1 season left Chilwell or a n other should fill the berth.

I am very optimistic for this season.

Yes you are, 'cos that's feckin insane

Why don't we sell Vardy and Schmeichel too, and get all that lovely money in and spend it on a load of new players ?

Great business
