Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2020 rumours thread

Ibrahim Diallo interests us and Southampton apparently.

We don't need another midfielder...

Our priority now should probably be another striker. Maybe a winger but I expect either Castagne or Ricardo will probably be deployed as far as the right side goes. We're looking a bit light on the left though..

I saw enough of him, thanks. I never want to him play again. Absolutely fecking usless. Successive managers have chosen to ignore him. There's probably a reason for that.

He could pick out a 2 yard pass. That's pretty much it. Unfortunately for him the Prem is a wee bit faster paced than the All-Priests Over 75's Five-A-Side Football Challenge Match against Rugged Island so he was fecked before he even started.

Romeo Sensini isn't a bad shout right now as we could do with another striker.

Transfer window closes tomorrow. After watching our first 4 games of the season, what do we need?

I'd love for us to sign a striker, although we all the know the challenges there.

We could also really do with a full back. I think it's unlikely though and we will just have to wait for Ricardo to be back.

Brendan still seems interested in an extra midfielder, which I think is surprising as think the two above are bigger priorities. But then without Maddison and Praet today, you could see why he might want another one.

Rumours that we are interested in Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese.

I'd like a left back, we haven't actually replaced Chilwell, Castagne has replace Ricardo and we don't know if either can play as well on the left as they do on the right and Justin isn't good enough

For now. He certainly wasn't bought to replace Ricardo. It'll be Castagne on the left and he will be fine. Until then, I'd play Thomas.

Castagne has never actually played left back, wing back yes not left back so we don't really know if he will be fine or anything else, we also don't know Ricardo will be the same player

So we should spunk a load of cash on another LB? Castagne was brought in for one reason; to replace Chilwell. He was never, ever intended to replace Ricardo. The only reason to buy another LB is if we are planning on using one of the aforementioned players as a winger. I'm pretty sure we aren't doing that.

There is the loan market.

There is a question I have on this. If Castagne has indeed been signed to play left back, why isn't he?

Justin is playing out of position - he is the back up right back. Surely it would make more sense to play Castagne where we have signed to play to and Justin in his natural position too? If the weakest full back is Justin, why is he the one being asked to play out of his comfort zone?

West Ham's best attacking threat is down their right / our left (Bowen). Same with Man City (Mahrez). Surely we should be playing our 'left back' in his rightful position in these matches?

There is no logic to it whatsoever that I can see.

same thing I keep thinking, if Castagne is Chilwell's replacement nothing is stopping him from replacing him except us

Agreed. I don't get it either.

Surely we don't think Justin is better on the left than the right. Maybe we think Castagne is better on the right than the left... But if we've signed him to play left back surely it makes sense to put him there now.

Unless we plan to make Ricardo the one to play out of position, which I'd be very disappointed with.

The only thing I can think is that our left attacker (Barnes) is better than our right attacker (Perez) so maybe he's trying to make sure we have a threat down both flanks by having Castagne on that side.
