The hysterically annoying and totally unfounded, but traditional, January 2025 rumours thread.

I think you've answered the question yourself there SF.

CM the least needed position for us so you know we'll be signing another 1 or 2.

I wouldn't like to see Hamza go unless it's freeing up funds for someone, but how much can it really be getting us on a loan deal?

Hopefully we have another right back setup.

I think the more bit part players we can move out, the better.

Choudhury is no good. We need 3-4 players this window which means making space for them.

We cannot just sign more players all the time without getting at least as many out.

Hamza is 27, he's never nailed a place in the team down even when we were in the Championship, and he never will. I suspect that the only reason he is still here is that we're overpaying him^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H he loves the club.
It'd be amazed if he'll ever be sold for anything like real money, so a smidge off the wages and a place freed up in the EPL squad will have to do - get him gone.

Yep, there could be a small argument that cover for RB is needed but I'm not sure if he would be any better than JJ to be honest.

There is also the fact that it is nice to have homegrown players around however, he is almost one of the poster boys of our downfall imo.

Probably less so for his on pitch contributions as he hardly ever plays for us but he has been paid an absolute fortune to be here and contributed very little in return.

As said above, he's only still here as we pay him more than he would get anywhere else by a country mile.

The sooner we get the likes of him and Ward off the books the better for us as paying fortunes for dross who contribute **** all is exactly what is holding us back.

Between those 2 it is probably the best part of £10m in basic wages a year and they probably get paid a lot more than anyone in the Ipswich squad - for what they contribute, you could buy a couple of championship players and cover their salary for that, or even with some proper scouting their wages alone would cover the signing fee for a very talented player from lower European leagues or South America.

The likes of Hamza, Ward, Vestergaard should never have been given contract extensions.

Having the squad full of overpaid fillers also restricts the opportunity for some youth opportunities too as we could have just have given Calvin Bassey some more opportunities instead of persisting with shite like Amartey.

Serious changes are needed with how this club is ran otherwise this is likely to be our peak for the considerable future.

How much is Hamza on per week?

As for a right back, didn't we loan someone in that position out earlier in the season?

Salary Sport reckon he was on £61k a week when we got relegated and his new contract while in the Championship was a reduction to £36k a week. I assume that reduction was due to be reversed when we got promotion again - like with most of those that had reduced salaries in the Championship. He/they may also have had promotion bonuses that made up the 'loss' taken during last season.

I'd not be surprised if he's on quite a bit more than £50k a week. We seem to pay way more than you could possibly imagine for our players because quite a few of them just go to the owner and he agrees to any old shit. Remember that the average salary a City player was on 3 years ago was £96k a week.

Maybe Top is flying around in Spain looking for a deserted and secluded piece of wasteland so that he can get one of his minions to push JJ and a few others out at 40,000 feet?
