I haven't mentioned what my politics are, I just asked David what IDS had to do with his fabulous post.
 
Hammond may not be that good, but to the best of my knowledge he is not a compulsive liar (https://www.scribd.com/doc/149776210/DPAC-Report-on-DWP-Abuse-of-Statistics-Final-22-June-2013). The lies of Duncan-Smith and his department are contributing to the brutalisation and immiseration - in some cases death - of thousands of disabled and poor people throughout the country. It is very offensive to Hammond to compare him to IDS; if I were him and read the comparison, I would seek an apology.

Dean Hammond does not know who IDS is, he prefers to busy himself with household chores.

I chose to compare Dean Hammond to IDS in a throw-away line thinking IDS was quiet and understated. I had not realised there are people who hate IDS and so I wish now I had skipped that line. The intention was that the post should be enjoyed; it was not to offend.

My main concern was that the post should be gentle and affectionate and not appear to be an attack on Dean Hammond. The theme was to try and humorously compare Dean Hammond to Stowell, Taylor-Fletcher and Wasilewski Whether or not that worked is for others to say but the IDS comparison was clearly a mistake since it distracted from that.

It worked. However, I had no clue of who IDS is so that specific comparison went beyond me. So at least it didn't offend me :icon_wink

I understand that screening for IDS is to be introduced at all UK ports and airports forthwith. If he's coming to us, he needs to come quickly.
