The only way England gets five CL places is if the winner finishes outside the top 4.

Correct, but fifth isn’t a qualifying place. If you finish fifth and win the Champions League, you qualify because you won the Champions League. Nothing to do with finishing fifth. Winning the CL doesn’t award England another qualifying place, it’s just that the holders qualify by right.

True, Burnley are showing more than we did last night and they are playing for nothing.

The gulf in quality between Burnley and Liverpool is larger than that between us and Chelsea too. Plus Burnley have **** all to play for and haven't for an age. Our performance/attitufe yesterday, vs Newcastle and Southampton are far from what you'd expect a team desperate to get top 4 to put in. I can't see us beating spurs tbh.

Actually.....looking at our performances in the league alone, since we hammered sheff utd mid March we've only really had the overly comfortable win against West Brom that stands out. Cup games have glossed over a fair bit of shite.

Yep, we've got to hope that Villa want to play for the crowd and Chelsea have one eye on the final the following week.
Draw in that match and a win from us is our only hope but its a very slim one.
