Peggy Sue Got Dead
Peggy Sue Rackham has died. She was the Peggy Sue of the Buddy Holly song. The name became so iconic that there was a sequel "Peggy Sue Got Married" There was then a movie "Peggy Sue Got Married" , The movie involved time travel with Kathleen Turner magnificent as the older Peggy Sue but terribly miscast as the High School Peggt Sue. Finally Peggy Sue Rackham wrote an autobiography about her connection with Buddy Holly and The Crickets.
Most people assume that Peggy Sue was Buddy's girlfriend. She was not. Her boyfriend was a member of The Crickets called Jerry Allison. Jerry persuaded Buddy to change the title from Cindy Lou to earn him brownie points. It worked and Peggy Sue married Jerry Allison. Sadly the marriage did not last.
It is nice to know that Peggy Sue always appreciated the tribute. This was not appreciated by Buddy's wife. Maria Elena Holly is said to have resented the fact that Buddy's iconic song was about Peggy Sue; Holly never recorded a song called Maria Elena.
