As far as I know, the Freedom of the City of Leicester has never before been awarded to a privately-owned organisation.

That they’ve also invented a new honour apparently designed specifically for the figureheads of the Srivaddhanapraba family is presumably just a coincidence?

It’s weird.

It's weird only if you prefer half-assed xenophobic conspiracy theories and are unable or unwilling to spend a couple of minutes looking at the readily available Council decision on which this story is based.

Leicester City Council are bound by various Local Government Acts, which restrict the terms and frequency in awarding these honours. So LCFC will join Leicester FC (aka the Eggchasers) and that organisation at the heart of the spider's web of intrigue and corruption in the city - namely Leicester Ladies Hockey Club - in being non-military organisations awarded the Freedom honour this century.

The individual award currently available, the Honoured Citizen Award, has similar restrictions and pertinent to the Srivaddhanapraba family, recipients should be (a) being honoured for services etc not directly connected to their paid employment or business interests; (b) be on the City or County Electoral Registers and; (c) not dead.

Thus, they have invented the City of Leicester Award, and tailored it to ensure that Vichai in particular is honoured.

That sounds like a miss

That’s more like it

I stand extremely corrected

Ooh so I was a tiny bit right but only by accident

Leicester City Chairman Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “It gives me and my family incredible pride to accept these wonderful honours.

“The city of Leicester has given so much to us and we remain determined to place ourselves at the heart of this fantastic community by giving back all we can to the people who have made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.

“We know how much this Football Club means to the people of Leicester and we are humbled and grateful to receive such high honours.”

Leicester City Chief Executive Susan Whelan added: “On behalf of Leicester City, we give our thanks to the City Council and the people of Leicester for bestowing such a prestigious honour on the Football Club.

“Our fans and community are the lifeblood of our Football Club and we know that football has the capacity to make such a difference to so many people – be that on the pitch or through our work off it.

“Our mission remains to continue to make that difference to people by giving them a Football Club they can be proud of, and we are truly privileged to be able to accept such a wonderful honour from the city of Leicester.

Yep, we've been crying out for a bastard for ages now and he certainly ticks that box!

I still think we need at least one more on the pitch but if Brown does join, hopefully he can add a tougher side to our current lot.

Why the **** woukd we want to employ some twat who has no managerial or coaching experience whatsoever - just because he’s a bit of a bastard

Or we now so completely shit that we’re happy having some ****ing no-mark join the coaching staff

Jebus

You don't get coaching experience by not coaching. Maybe BR sees more in him than us.
He could be a bastard and a good upcoming coach with big potential. (I have no idea I've never even see the guy play football let alone what he's like like the training ground.) And no one here has seen the later.

I've thought for a while that maybe having ex Celtic staff coaching defenders here is a large part of the problem. It's pretty ****ing easy to organise a defence against the L1 standard forwards you come up against almost every week in the SPL. Different matter in the Prem. I'd like to see some specialist defensive coaches NOT from ****ing Scotland come in here if at all possible.

I was thinking this. How effective can a coach really be when the players he’s working with know he’s never been close to their level?

Shankly, Paisley and Klopp come to mind at Liverpool. Busby and Ferguson at Man. Utd. Hardly world beaters as players, just fairly average. They did alright.

Shankly, Paisley and Busby all won major trophies as players. Klopp and Ferguson both have/had successful careers managing at a higher level, yes, but only after they’d proved themselves over a number of years. Ferguson did the only meaningful thing it’s possible to do in Scottish football — win the league with a non-Old Firm club. Scott Brown as a coach at a Premier League club doesn’t measure up to any of these.

I think he's exactly what our team of pussies needs.
