Interestingly, my brain initially interpreted the cake as a shit emoji.

Let’s hope that whatever is the central present of the pass the parcel isn’t breakable.

He was pretty good at playing musical statues last season.

You've fondled a nerve there mate. The ****ing central present? You mean THE prize surely? Honestly, people who think football has gone might want to hear about the demise of pass the parcel. Now every time the music stops (even the quality of that had fallen hugely), the kid unwrapping the layer of the parcel gets a prize. Why? Tell me ****ing why? ****s.

Because it’s a game for small children and it’s nice if they each get a sweet or something….

That just teaches them that everyone's a winner and everyone gets a prize. Life's not like that and its never too early for them to learn.

Why should absolutely everything be a practical life lesson? Where do you draw the line?

Children shouldn’t be free from rules and consequences and praise should be earned but I do think that adults forget what it’s like to be a child.

Being kind and inclusive is just as important as teaching a child what rejection and disappointment is, which I would argue can be done in a far less oblique way than through the medium of pass the parcel. That’s what competitive sport is for.

It's time to let all that anger go, you can get past that lost mini Haribo pack from your playmate's fouth bithday party - hell, I reckon you should go out and get a whole bag of Tangfastics to yourself right now if that helps you more than the therapy

I'm not angry. And I've never had a therapy session. Not that I'm opposed to it and would do so if I felt I needed it. I just have a different philosophy on this topic.

I also had to google "Tangfastics".

I agree. But I've also seen that episode of Bluey and the kids ended up preferring the disappointment style pass the parcel....so maybe that's a better way. They're dogs though so not sure if it applies with human children.

I like his dad’s style to be fair, seems like a decent laid back bloke/dog.

In which case buy them a puppy and then stove its ****ing head in on day two to teach them the life lesson that death could be lurking just around the corner and you don't always expect it.....

They've got plenty of time to learn 'life's lessons'. In the meantime, let them have a 10p bag of Haribo without PierscuntificationMorganising it.
