I am on a course. Watched 4 times last season will tell all....

Explanation time. I read this at dinner whilst away from office. I watched him four times last season.

His set-pieces are better than anyone's at the club. He is very one-footed which is a worry. Everytime I watched him he got better. First game, he celebrated in front of the Bury support (he's a Bury lad who left to their rivals on a free!) because the stick he got. Second game against Luton, he was a danger from left-back and best player on show. Third game against Notts County, he was Dale's best player again.

Very pleased as I thought he was off Donny.

I thought he was a Donny player who was loaned out to Rochdale?

Edit: Nope, I misunderstood this paragraph from the Sky Sports article

Kennedy was set to sign a contract with Rovers until a last-ditch intervention from Leicester boss Nigel Pearson.

I'm so excited by this I've just bobbed myself

Onwards and upwards...

Seems OK but I am surprised that as he is a League 2/1 player, the 'We won't get to the premiership without premiership players' brigade have not come storming onto this thread!

This IMO is a terrific signing. I've followed his career since leaving Bury, he came through the same youth system as David Nugent and the Bury fans knew he would become a star. He's been excellent at Rochdale by all accounts and I'm very confident he can make the step-up with ease.

Good signing Nigel. :038:

I am not sure anyone has said we should be signing players who are playing in the Premiership. What some people think is that you do not get automatic promotion unless you have a number of players who are too good for the Championship. Some of these - IMO Fryatt, Wellens, Weale - will not have played in the Prem. Some of them such as Hobbs and hopefully Spearing are from the top Prem clubs without being Premiership regulars. Of course being too good for the Championship does not mean being Prem quality as the gulf is huge. I would not be surprised if Morrison and King joined the "too good for the Championship" group next season.

As for Tom Kennedy there has been the suggestion that he is seen as backup for Bruno. I doubt if he sees it that way. At 25 he is at his peak whereas Bruno is perhaps past his peak. It may be that Nigel sees Bruno as defensive midfield which is a role he played in League One and that he might have played last season if McGivern had been better. It is highly likely that Berner at 32-33 will struggle against fast wingers next season.

I am impressed that he is the penalty taker. The club's penalty taker is usually a player with good technique and a cool head. (Hopefully the immaturity he showed in the match against Bury is a one-off) It is surely rare for the penalty taker to be a fullback.

I don't remember any rumours about Kennedy joining. This seems evidence yet again that perhaps five people know what is going on - Milan, Hoos, Pearson, Shakespeare and Walsh - and they are impressively tight lipped.

Ian Harte, Graham Alexander and Peter Kennedy are three examples of penalty taking fullbacks that I can think of from recent times.

Stuart Pearce used to take them for Forest didn't he?

Peter Rodrigues took penalties. And so did David Nish when he was playing fullback.

Did Gary Mills not take penalties for us whilst playing full-back during the 91/92 season.

Gary Mills was a central midfielder, wasn't he?
