How do you find out all this? Are there specialist sites somewhere or do you just try different combinations of tickets / changes etc?

A lot of it is remembering what has worked in the past; a lot of it is picking stuff up from various railway mailing lists and newsgroups. Then the details are gleaned from the websites of National Rail, the Association of Train Operating Companies and the various companies themselves.

Indeed. That is another name for it - but while it saves me (and others) money, it's worth the effort.

:) Tbh and without meaning to blow my own trumpet (go on MK fill your boots) if I want it is as good as mine.I left on good terms and i was very good at my job,I hated it but I was good at it.My boss would be my mate and he would be fine with it all.Just got a few other avenues to explore.I didn't get to see him yesterday,got to Preston and all the trains were at a standstill going south because of a signalling problem at Warrington:icon_roll

I have to go to Corby on Monday, I need to know the best train times and fares. I can get my hands on a family railcard to help with the fare.

I used to live in Corby...it's an absolute shitehole.They haven't got a Train Station so geting there by train invoves getting a Rail link bus from Kettering

(Aren't they building a new station in Corby. Why? Who wants to go there?)

Corby is a toilet,I lived there for a few years.The Town Centre is particulary gruesome
