I was told by somebody from the club as recently as Saturday that there is an impasse between City and Sunderland, based on them refusing to let us sign Fulop permanently - and that this is putting a block on any move there.

From the Sunderland OS:

Roy Keane hopes to make one last signing before the transfer window closes at midnight tonight.

The Sunderland boss has made no secret of his desire to sign a left-sided full-back.

Keane said after Sunderland's game against Manchester City yesterday that the Wearside club had "backed out" of a deal because another club had "moved the goalposts".

Maybe that refers to us then? Hope so, rather than the LB he is still looking for. Don't want to see Mattock leave anyway, but please not to Sunderland.

If he goes for one of those bloody "undisclosed fees" as well I'd be annoyed.

I think he's a twat but he does seem to be doing well at Sunderland. Glad we have shafted him over Mattock if true.

I would agree with you HF, but I think the animosity towards him is over the Fulop affair last season.

It was made abundantly clear that it was 'not-for-publication'. City will not sell to Sunderland unless their hand is forced and certainly not while there are other clubs interested.

It's certainly clear though that they are willing to let Mattock go at the right price.
