Really? I'd not seen them confirm it. Just rumours on SSN

They've said there in due diligence now with the Abu Dhabi Investment Group... I don't see how they can sign anyone in that situation tbh.

They've already loaned them £50M apparently so they could buy the players they have over the last few days

Ah nice idea.

They've said they want them to finish in the top 4 this season apparently... might need a bit more than £50m if they want to do that!

They've already signed Zabaleta to replace Corluka though I guess... and they signed Glauber Berti (something like that)... who is a defender but no idea where... if he's a left back then maybe they don't need too much more.

Arsenal and Liverpool both need some good signings. Arsenal need a bit of steel in midfield, and Liverpool just need some actual good wingers, rather than just cheap, average players they sign and then don't play.

This consortium buying them are richer than Abramovich, they are stating they will make Man City the most successful club in the Premiership.

Is this the same group that had been trying to buy Liverpool too?

I still hate Chelsea for the way they got to the top, but for some reason I wouldn't mind a similar takeover for Man City... I think partially because I already hated Chelsea before Abramovich, and also because a big takeover like that seems to be the only way anyone else is ever going to touch the "Big 4".

No, that was DIC, this is a different group. Apparently the 16th richest Arab in the world is leading the consortium so they should have a few quid. They've paid £200M outright for the club.

The bubble will surely burst one day - it's just a matter of when. And when the cash cows have all departed what will be left?

Mark Hughes has told Sky Sports News that Spurs have accepted Manchester City's shock bid for Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgaria international has been a target for Premier League champions Manchester United throughout the summer, but City have now stepped in with an audacious last-minute move.

City's offer for Berbatov is reported to be in excess of £30million and would set a new British transfer record.

Hughes revealed that a fee had been agreed with the North London club and he now plans to hold talks with the talented striker.

Berbatov has been left out of Juande Ramos' plans for the club's last two matches, with the coach feeling his presence was a disruptive influence on the rest of the squad.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted at the end of last week he was unsure if the deal would go through before Monday's midnight deadline.

But talks between the two clubs were believed to be ongoing as the clock ticked down.

However, City have now joined the race and are looking to hijack the move, having earlier sold Vedran Corluka to Spurs.

But won't having all that money pumped into them just make it a Big 5 ?:102:

Ah cheers.

BBC now reporting that as well as the offer for Berbatov, they are in talks with David Villa and Mario Gomez!

Villa or Berbs would be a good signing... but the only time I've seen Gomez was in the Euros, and he was utter shite.

God, I love deadline day ;)

Have they as much money as BG ?

:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol: Villa or Everton .

I'm pretty sure the question was "Why wouldn't we sell to Sunderland?"... which Villa or Everton doesn't seem to answer ;)

Don't really see why either of them would want him either... He's not as good as Shorey or Baines, and neither of them are exactly old and and need a replacement.

I can imagine Mattock at Newcastle for some reason.
