Good to know that the main centers were the side as well.

Papa Wheelie - Very vocal and claimed virtually every ball into the area really well, good distribution too. Hardly had a proper save to make though.

Morrisson - Sound at right back and the favorite to start there next saturday. Offered good overlaps for Oakley and was very 'firm' with their winger, he got booked for dropping an elbow I think.

Hobbs - Made a mistake in the first half that nearly cost us a goal but apart from that he was sound. Put some good tackles in.

Brown - Won every header he went up for and nearly started a fight with their striker. Distribution with his feet was slightly dodgy.

Berner - Excellent in the tackle but was often beaten in the air.

Oakley - Some good touches in the first half but didn't offer much width, picked up a knock early in the second and was taken off but it didn't look at all serious.

*EDIT* Andy King - Hardly touched the ball and was often out muscled in the midfield.

Wellens - Moved the ball sise to side nicely and offered support to the front two. He showed some nice touches and was always looking for space.

Dyer - Looked good, tried to get to the byline quite often and put a nice cross in for Gradel that he nearly scored from.

N'Guessan - Lively and very physical. Won his share in the air but was largely ineffectual, i'd expect him to start against Swansea which isn't a tragedy, I think he'll get better.

Howard - Typical Howard really, he won plenty of headers and held the ball up very well. Had a well taken header dissallowed off a nice Wellens free kick, it was a tight decision that the could have gone either way really.

SUBS

O'neill - Came on for Morrisson at half time and I was really impressed. He didn't give their left winger much and put in some good challenges. Offered good support coming forward too.

Adams - Played center mid after coming on for Oakley and did well, almost set up Fryatt with an excellent through ball at the end. Showed good composure and strength on the ball.

Gradel - Got his crosses in consistently although they were all slightly too near post but he looked as tricky and tenacious as ever. Had a good chance to score with a free header off a nice Dyer cross.

Burns - Played left wing in place of Dyer but never really got involved.

Fryatt - Looked slightly off the pace as you would expect but was always taking up good position and took his goal beautifully. As the defence rushed out for an offside he just dropped of the defenders shoulder as the ball came back in and rounded the 'keeper nicely to finish from a tight angle. Glad to see him get a good 35 minutes under his belt and he seems to have stayed in good shape over the break.

Did we start with only 10 players?

:icon_lol: Well seeing as Andy King did feck all i'll pretend I meant to leave him out....

Dish water springs to mind, the amount of time i yawned was incredible. That said, don't think we'll play like that on saturday. Wellens did ok, Howard had a decent game. Fryatt, what would we without him? Weale looks ok. Nothing to be down about, but not overly optimistic.

I'm suprised you went, what with them being foreigners

I thought Howard was excellent and was disappointed his goal was disallowed as he deserved one.
Nguessan seemed very poor though, of course, he was out of position.
Dyer looked good and Gradl had his moments suggesting that Nguessan may find it difficult to establish a place on the wing.
Wellens did OK and I think may be good when he has more of an understanding with the other players.
I was very impressed with Luke ONeal but Robbie Burns looked rather out of hisd depth.
Matty Fryatt was very poor except for his goal which he took really well. Of courser, he is not match-fit.
I was surprised that Tunchev did not play. Even if he is not yet fit enough for 90 minutes I expected him to come on as a sub.

I went to the game on a free ticket in the end and apart from the first and last 10 minutes I though we and the game was a load of shite. N'Guessan was very dissapointing, Fryatt looked average however he took his goal well and will of course be better when match fit, Howard was strong in the air and Weale was strong, confident and vocal. Dyer looked positive with a few good runs and did one very good piece of tracking back in defence. Oakley was decent however I hope he was ok when he came off as he did seem to be walking fine. Overall, we won but under a week before the season starts to say I'm worried is an understatement.

I'll be worried if we're bottom after six games without a point rather than after beating a La Liga side at home in a friendly match. Did you expect a full throttle encounter? Stop being such a drama queen.

a) It was a friendly, the players would have been under instruction not to over do it.
b) We were playing La Liga opposition and managed to beat them (okay they put no effort in at all in but still.....)
c) The defence and the midfield looked very tidy and well balanced.
