I'm surprised they haven't sold the naming rights to someone else for another stream of revenue rather than just doing it themselves

Shows their egos I suppose

I have to be honest i prefer Walkers (just got used to it after Filbert St), however it does indicate a long term committment by the owners

As it appears they are throwing a lot of money at the club, at least the naming rights fees ( with certain conditions ) will be tax deductable, whereas the investment in the club generally will not. Plus they seem very keen to get their name well known. Ego polishing it may be, but if they are happy to do it, good luck to them. They could have spent their money elsewhere.

I think the thing with Walkers was that, almost naively, it doesn't sound as corporate as King Power, hence why fans prefer that.

And in regards to them spending money on naming rights for the stadium, I doubt its anything that significant.

I suppose in regards to the player pictures that go round the top of the stand they will just change the logos. Have to rip out a few seats in the kop and family stand though

Well IMO I can't see anything wrong with this. It reinforces the owner's ties to the club, it doesn't sound crap, and opposition fans can no longer refer to it as 'the crisp bowl' without sounding stupid. They are obviously trying to raise their profile, I think not only in this country but maybe over the world in the long run. Wouldn't surprise me if they plan on opening some king power duty free outlets in the UK within the next few years.

They can refer to it as the nuts bowl instead ;)

I think the only disappointment for me is the tradition. Walkers has almost become a traditional sponsor of the club, but atleast it appears there will still be Walkers branding around the stadium so that tradition remains intact in some way. At first it seems odd that they would forgo the extra income from naming rights of the stadium and shirt sponsorship but it's clear there is a bigger picture. Maybe we can expect a king power outlet at east midlands airport soon!

Good points. I would have thought they still wanted branding present in one way or another, hence the 'legacy branding' deal. I would have thought the name change was more down to what appears to be a desire to turn King Power into a global brand or atleast introduce it to other countries/ continents etc.

Why? If Walkers are still putting money into the club, then I dont see the problem with it.

Forget insulting each other, declaring things or players Shit seems to be the new thing at the minute on here. I've not seen so much overreactive swearing since Lako's angry phase a fee years back.

Honestly, some fans really do care about some bizarre things. How much "soul" their stadium has (maybe we should book Aretha Franklin to perform then), how big their crowds are, how much they are hated, whether they get to stand up or sit down, how much association they have with the city, how much they hate the city of Nottingham for no real reason other than they've been told they are supposed to and sing about it even when we are not playing a team from that city (and I am aware Nottm Forest aren't actually in the city of Nottingham before anyone says it).

Only thing I care about about is going to watch some entertaining football on a Saturday afternoon.
