By getting together with the other teams in the Football League and declaring that enough is enough, and other such statements. That they won't is their choice.

is it sky's fault the league wont allow 3pm saturday games to be televised?

I mean they wont allowit to be shown in this country.

The irony being, of course, that this is in place to try to stop attendances dwindling as people stay in to watch the football rather than go to the match. Instead, they move them to unsociable evening times where attendances are dwindling because people are staying in to watch Masterchef.

Leicester explain fixture switch to supporters

Leicester have issued a statement sympathising with supporters following the latest alteration to the club's fixture list.

The Foxes' final home game of the season against promotion rivals Watford, initially scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday April 27, was this week moved forward to the Friday night.

The Hornets' visit to the King Power Stadium is the eighth time this season that a Leicester home match scheduled for a traditional 3pm kick-off has been moved for television coverage.

The club has described this season's changes to their fixtures as "unprecedented" and, amidst complaints from some fans, has moved to clarify its role in the decision-making process.

A statement released by Leicester said: "The club understands that this has caused some inconvenience for supporters and would, therefore, like to clarify its position with regard to the selection of televised games.

"The Football League's central contract for television rights requires all of its member clubs to accommodate changes to the fixture schedule, based on selections made by its broadcast partners.

"If a Leicester City fixture is selected for live coverage, the club is obliged to play the game at the rescheduled time.

"The club empathises with supporters that have been frustrated by the unprecedented changes to the schedule. With this in mind, we have recently extended a special offer to our loyal season ticket holders, entitling them to a complimentary additional ticket for one of our next three home games against Millwall or Birmingham City or Bolton Wanderers, as a gesture of appreciation for their efforts to accommodate the changes."

The club also said that all tickets purchased for the original date against Watford will be valid for the rearranged fixture, or can be refunded in accordance with the terms and conditions of sale.

**** it, I'll scoop myself. Didn't realise this was included in the Watford text.

It's because the majority of games still kick off at 3pm across the leagues ( barring any game involving Leicester, of course ) and they don't want the attendances at those games impacted by live coverage. It's part of the TV agreements.

Great, the club are offering me a complimentary ticket to a game I can't go to because it's been moved. Thanks a bunch.

As I pointed out though, the moved games are at far less convenient times and have lower crowds anyway.

So club have not said anything of any worth at all. How about we believe a change in the rules should be made? That would really show you side you the fans.

Not fecking chance.

Hahahahahaha

I sympathise with your situation, having given up my ST due to recheduled games, but that is absolutely ****ing hilarious!

It's a big shitty circle. Less games moved means less money means higher debt means unhappy fans. If they just showed one game on a Saturday and made all games kick off at 3 then I'm sure the gates wouldn't be too affected. But they won't because they (Sky and Premier League) get too much from advertising and syndication to change.

But if the 3pm live game was teams the majority want to watch, then less disirable games would be ditched by more. You're risking attendances for 40+ teams lowering instead of 2.

People who would sooner watch Man Utd than their own team wouldn't buy tickets for their local team anyway though, surely?

Erm, the second game was moved by the agreement of Cardiff & Leicester alone, no other reason. Absolutley friggin' ridiculous.

Not the first time that the two clubs have made such an agreement. A few years ago (2007?) they brought a mid-week match forward to 4th round day after they were both knocked out in the 3rd round. Several LB lost money that time too.
