When he's played he's been one of the few players willing to get forward and carry the ball up the pitch himself. He's the 1st choice left sided midfielder imo.

Yes, Chilwell should have a regular place asap - as part of the transition. Fuchs isn't going to improve but Chilwell should.

I'm not sure that the average fan is up for change and the necessary re-modelling and based on the crazy comments of the match thread |I'm certain that lots on this forum aren't.

However, I sense that Puel has been given marching orders to make changes (without getting us relegated) and appears the type to do this. In the meantime expect a bit of pain probably involving getting beat on Tuesday.

Incidentally, my gut feeling is that Puel has been brought in as a transition enforcer and I doubt whether he will be around that long after he has done that stint.

No, I'm suggesting he is a left back because, well, he is a left back. Even in a world where he is a left winger, which of course he isn't, do you think it was a good substitution to make given the circumstances? Just think before you type.

I'm not using any stick to beat any manager. Jump down off that high horse and read my post again. I can see what he is trying and I can see it may take time. I am happy for him to have this as we all should be however, it doesnt mean that his substitutions weren't anything short of ****ing idiotic given the moment. West Ham can't defend for shit and were back peddling time and time again when we were attacking. Okazaki and perhaps even Slimani (who I have little hope in but at least would have offered something different up there) were absolutely made for that second half. Instead, he replaced a number 10, albeit one who was awful most of the game, for a left back playing left wing. It was never going to cause them any issues and it didn't. Jamie Vardy spent the whole of the second half completely isolated with the ball rarely seeing his boots - in fact this was happening from about 35 minutes or so and it was painfully obvious to anyone that it needed changing.

No slight on either of current encumbents, but in the case of Fuchs, he’s declining in influence and in the case of Simpson he’s not an attacking full back.

Amartey has had some very good games at RB. But he has always looked terrified when put in any attacking position. Maybe it will come but not sure he's ready as an attacking rb yet.

That is to my knowledge his only game as RB in the League. Most notably remembered for being subbed for Ulloa who went on to make an earthquake. He played two games as RB in the FA Cup last season of which one was against Millwall. This season he has played RB in our League Cup games. He has played much more as CM for us.

If we really must have an attacking right back, then from within the current squad I'd vote for using Albrighton.
Like Chilwell, he'll take time to learn the defensive part, but he has good positional sense and the energy to get up and down the touchline.
