What I’ve read on this thread could be best summed up as disappointment at not beating a West Ham team who are in poor form. We’re in transition, trying a 4231, fitting in Gray and Mahrez with two deep lying midfielders. It didn’t help that after 20 mins we struggled in possession - there were at least 3 occasions in the 1st half where Gray or Mahrez made the wrong decision on the counter attack which could’ve put the game to bed. Plus a penalty decision and a Vardy curler which I expect him to hit the target. We’re attempting to make more passes through the middle which should yield better possession and chances. West Ham just lumped it forward. I know which mode will give better results over the course of 38 games. Us fans just have to be patient.

As an aside to the on pitch dross from both teams, do with know why Vichai and Rudkin had to sit in the away end last night? Extremely odd.
Likewise against Man C someone said the owner had moved from his usual perch into one of the corporate boxes.
Anyone any the wiser into the reasons behind it or am I looking too deep into this?!

Okay, yes, I'll buy that. The morning brings distance and perspective. Main thing was that we didn't lose, and it was a point away from home etc.

It was not attractive performance yesterday and a couple of our players did not deliver but I'll put that down to unfamiliarity with whatever system was being used.

It was however, and will forever remain, an awful game of football.

I think most fans would like us to try and win games. A good manager may think of changing his approach to get a win when his stubbornness at sticking with our lack of a plan has us pissing in the wind. He was obviously content with a narrow defeat against man city and a point against an awful west ham side but at some point we could run out of games he'd like us to win. Still, let's judge him after 10 games.

We went too far with the whole possession at all costs malarkey, however after a season of giving change a go we should get better at it.

If there is any sports team in the world that should have the bollocks to try and win every game it’s Leicester. I know the past is the past, but that sense of bravery should be part of our identity.

It is fine trying to hold on to a 1-0 lead against a top team you were not expecting to beat for the last 20 minutes of a game, but anybody else we should be up and at them from the off.

I am sure Jeff will come back with the relevant stats but I am confident that the team that scores first wins more often than the team that doesn't.

And the best way to defend a one goal lead has always been to score a second goal!

Period of transition, it wont click straight away FFS.

Many of us have been calling for a different approach, now we are working on one we are all losing our ****ing minds .


As I said previously, it's an ideal season to make the slow transition, the league is overflowing with shit.

I think we are passing the ball more and we will get better it is going to click, I would like to see Mahrez closer to Vardy

We are clearly changing our system massively, instead of hitting the front channels with long ball, we are now playing keep-ball and through the middle we are looking to dominate, whilst the front three behind the striker work in figure-of-eight shapes to pull the defence around allowing room for Vardy.

I loved a lot of the pass & move from Leicester last night, especially in the first half. It will take time, and when Silva comes in we could be extremely good at playing a more possessive-style of football which I would applaud.

Get behind them please.... Be patient. It could be very very good.

It looked as if we thought we were the better team and expected goals to come for free. The game was like a training match at times. We were coasting first half, and then could not find another gear. This was possibly the flattest game of football I've seen for a very long time.

Its pretty clear we're in an experimental/ transition phase. We're now trying to play through the middle more and rather than punting long balls we're playing in favour of keeping it calm and keeping the ball by playing it back or to the side. I'm sure Puel will get time aslong as he at least picks up enough results to ward off the 'itchy trigger finger' that comes with relegation battles. Hopefully he will come good given time but we were dull as **** last night.

Good post Alex and I do agree with it, and think introducing a different style of play is clear a good thing.

Still incredibly frustrated by yesterday though, because some of the play was just poor and Vardy was sooo isolated. And not to win either of the last two away games after the chances we’ve had is incredibly disappointing.

People going through a change in football generally pass through five recognisable stages:

1) DENIAL

In this stage the change is approaching without the true impact being realised. A bereaved person often believes that their loved one will ‘just walk through the door at any moment.’ People moving house often leave packing to the very last moment. Retirement often comes as a surprise even though it can be seen from many years away and in the workplace employees will comment ‘it won’t happen – they talked about it for years’. This stage surprisingly also affects very positive longed for changes so a long sought after promotion brings with it unexpected difficulties and responsibilities; marriage to a greatly loved partner has unexpected downsides. At this stage communication is key. Reiterating what the actual change is, the effects it may have, and providing as much reassurance and support as possible to individuals at this stage.

2) ANGER

When the full impact of the change takes effect the predominant feelings are of anger and injustice - anger at fate, at the lost opportunity or of the old state; ‘why me?’ There is a feeling of loss of control and blame is laid on a partner, on an employer or even God. This anger can spill over into otherwise unaffected areas of life and onto friends and acquaintances who can be taken aback by sudden outbursts. If this anger is ‘bottled up’ it can have far-reaching consequences and lead to unexplained behavioural and physical symptoms. At this stage it can be useful to explain that these feelings are natural and a healthy and appropriate strategy needs to be developed. If this anger is allowed to surface and is handled effectively it leads naturally to the next stage.

3) RATIONALISATION

People need to be able to make sense of the world, particularly when a change in life is thrust upon them for whatever reason. Once the initial denial and anger is past the individual seeks a reason for what has happened and tries to make the events fit with their own particular view of themselves and their world. To an outsider the rationalisation may not make full sense but so long as it makes sense to the individual concerned it allows passage to the next and most important step, that of acceptance of the new state. Without this rationalisation the individual can revert back to the initial stage of denial and start the whole process again. Commonly people revert back to the anger stage a number of times and this can be a signal that although rationalisation is taking place, barriers are still to be overcome. Once the barriers are overcome the ‘dividing line’ is crossed and they start looking forward.

4) ACCEPTANCE

The transition to this stage can come quite suddenly. It’s characterised by a shift in thinking towards an as yet uncertain future. The individual is prone to leaps of the imagination, this is a good time to try and identify new ways of working / behaving as a consequence of the change. ‘Now I may be able to do x, y ….’.

5) GROWTH

Now that the changed state has been accepted, the new rules understood, the new relationships established, realistic plans can be laid. The ‘visions’ and ‘ideas’ from the acceptance stage being either laid on one side or planned for in a hard-headed fashion. Now the future is accepted and positives will be acknowledged.

The stages cannot be avoided but they can be suppressed. Suppression leads to anxiety and anxiety leads to stress and its associated symptoms. Helping people near you to work through the changes thrust on them by life can be one of the greatest services you can do for someone.

I think the signs of progress are there under Puel. Playing a more progressive style, more passes etc, will allow us to drag defences around more. Man City have been doing it perfectly all season. We’ll get nowhere near that level, but whilst you have Gray, Mahrez, Vardy etc in the team, we’ll run most defences ragged. With better decision making last night, we’d have overrun West Ham. The fact we didn’t shows the potential when it does click. Look at it like this - did West Ham look like they had exciting and attacking football in them?

As a general rule I believe managers should be given a pre-season. Claude is being criticised when he has not even had a transfer window. Under Craig we were in the relegation zone. Stone Cold's two games and Claude's four have got us into mid-table.

I read that West Ham are "shite" They are not. They are a Premier League side this season and I would guess next season as well. Those of us who were there when we were in League One remember us playing "shite" teams.

We seem vulnerable to high balls into the box. As a rule I prefer Shinji to Slimani. However we were looking vulnerable to high balls into the box. No doubt Claude has looked at the twos and noticed Slimani has an advantage of several inches. .

Under Claude we have lost to the best team in the League, drawn two matches away and won one at home. Imagine the reaction if Claude had got poor results.

No amount of 'transition' or 'period of change' rhetoric will account for a manager failing to make a blindingly obvious substitution to try and win a game. When you are one a piece with a team that are vulnerable to pacey attacks and you bring on what is, essentially, a left back for your number 10, it is completely and utterly incompetent.

I like the change in shape and I also like the idea of us being more controlled in our passing so I can see what he is trying to do. Of course I will give the guy time as we all should but defending his attitude towards winning that game makes no sense.
