This Saturday morning I had to pop into work for a few hours. While there some of the workforce (male, 20-40 yrs old) had 'Century FM' playing on a radio.

It was the most frighteningly awful selection of music that I've heard in a long time (between countless adverts). The radio station seems aimed totally at the houswife audience, a radio version of daytime Tv.

Westlife, TakeThat, The Corrs, Phill Bleedin Collins, etc etc. At least Radio 2 has more than one dimension.

If they'd played an Oasis track it would be 'Wonderwall', for REM they'd play 'Everybod hurts'. But they don't play Oasis or REM.

Gastly stuff. Music for people who have no interest in music.

I dug out my MP3 player and got some Stereolab, Dan Sartain and some Teenage Fanclub. Ahh much better.
