Have you ever heard Astral Weeks, btw?

That's still the ultimate singer/songwriter album imo, it's a bit of a polarising album, but people who love it REALLY love it, many people/critics will cite it as their favourite album, while many others don't really get it.

Definitely worth giving it a go at least.
